Since these are the "Originals" they have the square barrel...I personally, only have Sketch and Ciao's but I have heard some say that they don't really like the squareness of the Originals. Just a thought I wanted to pass along. Also in the future you may want to try here, this particular page shows 6 of the Ciaos for only $20 (so of course you could get 12 for $40). The BEST thing about this website is that you can CUSTOM your sets and get the colors that you need. I have not purchased from them yet but I plan to do my filling in of pens this way! I am not affiliated in any way, just wanted to pass on the info.

QUESTION ABOUT COPIC MARKERS. Okay, I just bought the 48-pen set of Zig markers. Apparently Copic Markers are better? Someone let me know what the advantage is, and do I need them now that I have the Zig?

Thanks TD, I like that website with free shipping in US. Will definitely have it for future reference. I don't have any copics yet and this set looked like a perfect starter, considering it has a few of the markers I wanted to start off with.

Again thanks

Just received my order today from copicmarkerS.com. I was able to order a custom set of 12 (limited to available colors in stock), free shipping, and they had awesome customer service. I was a ditz when I ordered so I had quite a few problems and they were so good about it. I recommend buying from them.

Just placed my order (12) at this awesome price. There were quite a few colors left within the scope of the colors I already have, so I was happy. Also, they take Money Orders, which helps me control my spending.

I have 100+ cia markers and tons of them are drying out. I seriously recommend one's that can be refilled. I am currently replacing my CIA's as they dryout with Sketch because i like the tip. They are refillable. I buy them from Carpediem as they are under $4 each which is a great price.

Wendalyn I was looking at carpediem too. I wanted to start off with the sketch markers, but since this was a shipping special I wanted to get a starter set to begin playing with the copics and chose the ciao - the price was good.

I was able to try copics for the first time last week.
I tried out the square sketchers as well as the ciao. I must say that I LOVE the sketchers, they seem to have a better "hand" for me. I'm sure it is personal preference, but I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from buying them because they are soooooooooooo worth it!!!! the square barrel had NO effect on the beautiful color and ease of use!!! I'm sold :-)

- the square ones are original and they have a firm fine point on one end, chisel on the other. you can airbrush with them
- the oval ones are sketch, and they have a great brush on one end, chisel on the other. you can airbrush with these
- the ciao have the same tips as the sketch, but they don't have as much ink to start with, half the colors and you can't airbrush
ALL the markers are refillable and ALL can have the tips replaced. I use all three kinds. I've had some of mine for over 8 years, I just keep refilling 'em!

Thanks for clarifying this!! I am in the "research" stage on the Copic Markers and still can't decide which style I want to buy. My friend let me try hers out and she had both Sketch and Ciao. She prefers the feel of the Ciao, but I liked them both!
