I'm also a huge fan of Oozak.com. It's a one man shop, his name is Steve. I've never had a bit of trouble. I've always gotten EXCELLENT service. This is also the first complaint I've ever seen! I recommend Oozak all of the time.
Has anyone had a problem getting their orders from OOzak? I placed an order on July 22 for $300 (B-day gift from my hubby and kids) so I could take advantage of the prices before they changed. It took 3 weeks and MANY phone calls to finally get my order. Eventually I was able to speak to a manager and he said that even though the items showed as 'in stock' when I placed the order on line they actually didn't order from Copic until after orders were placed with them and then had a hard time filling orders. Since they did have markers that showed 'out of stock' I felt like I had been scammed. Then I was offered a deal to order the new colors at a discount and that they would send me an email with a link, guess what? Yep, no email. I was so disappointed because I ordered in plenty of time to get them before a surgery I had scheduled and since I would be on bed rest for a few weeks I thought I would get to play, by the time they came I only had a week left at home and had to spend that time getting the kids ready for school before I went back to work.

I think that Erica has confused my site (oozak.com) with another site. Many of you know that I would never handle any order that way and that my site only shows what I have in stock. I don't backorder or pre-order anything. I answer my phone (I like to chat ;) and emails. Yes, I am a one man shop - so, if I make a mistake, I have to roll my own head
I'm not going to mention the site I think she may have actually ordered from, but a little research will tell you that she's not the only one with that experience.

Has anyone had a problem getting their orders from OOzak?
First I owe A HUGE APOLOGY TO OOZAK this was me on no sleep after working a huge shift for with PGFD on the east coast (we have been flooding with all this rain) and combining several longer paragraphs into one shorter one on my phone and NOT rereading my work. What I should have asked was if anyone has had a problem with Carpe Diem Art Store and what experience they had with oozak since I want to try them. I in no way meant to flame a completely innocent company, especially a small business, especially since I go out of my way to try and support the 'little guy'
AgainI am so SORRY OOZAK and I hope that you will let me order from you. Any negative comments directed toward me I totally deserve.
So many others here love that site and I had it bookmarked for future purchases, but I'm going to remove them after posting this. Poor customer service is a HUGE pet-peeve for me.

The Oozak "Representative" you referred to would be Rusty the owner. He is a one man band. LOL He runs the entire business by himself and does a spectacular job I might add.
We know him for Copics, but he has distress ink pad and reinkers, Memento pads and reinker, Versafine and others inks . He has EZ-mount, stamps from several companies and a lot of other things

Good thing I had the hubby cremated when he died...he'd be rolling in his grave if he knew how much I've bought from Oozak! Another problem sidestepped.....
I'm totally new to the world of copic & have just started building my collection but I was wondering if there are any good blogs or videos for newbies? (how to use them, blending, etc)
I would be interested to know this too. I am going to a Beginner's Copic class tomorrow night, so that should help. I have seen a book advertised for beginners, can't remember the name. ? Put out by Annies Attic or something.
The book you are referring to is Copic Coloring Guide by Colleen Schaan & Marianne Walker....another is Shadows & Shading by Marianne Walker.....both are available from Oozak.com
Ok call me lazy but I did a search for the Copic matches for the last two years of SU In Colors...and there are hundreds of pages...but the last few of each thread had nothing.
Help! Can someone repost if they know the matches?? Yeah...for two years!! I have neglected my stamp room and my lovely marker pile and need to fill in my Copic gaps after placing a huge order of SU stuff to try to get me up to speed on all I have been missing.
Based on prior experience, I am guessing Rusty @ Oozak will get me my order before the SU box even arrives if someone can tell me what colors to order tonight! (I did read the whole Erica thing, and as I read it, truly thought it sounded like my experiences with CD...was glad to find out we were ALL right about that!!)

I had a virtual craft room sale over the weekend and now have a few bucks to spend on Copics. Yay! I thought I would start with a set of 12 autumn colors for making seasonal cards. I found this set and was wondering what experienced Copic gurus think about it for coloring autumn leaves, pumpkins, and such??? I would, of course, buy locally (as in USA) but thought it looked like a nice collection of autumn colors.
While those pictured are originals, I think (after much deliberation) I'll be going with the Sketch. I do have a few Sketch that I bought about four years ago: R27 (Cadmium Red), E37 (Sepia), C5 (Cool Gray No. 5), and a couple of Colorless Blenders. I used them to color one card (no shading or anything, just solid color, lol) and they've been sitting on the shelf ever since.
Any thoughts from people "in-the-know" would be greatly appreciated.

I am no fan of buying sets. I think you get colors you may not use. In that set I can't imagine when you would use black. To color black you use the dark cool grays (C's) . If you use true black you will lose the lines of your image and it will look like a silhouette .
Do you plan to color with or without shading? If you plan to start coloring without shading then you can chose a larger variety of colors than this set offers. If you plan to learn to do shading then you need 2-3 colors close to each other to do that.
Do you have some images in mind to color? What colors will you need for those images?

I'm fairly new to Copics and have a very small collection, but here is what I learned so far--the hard way:
1) The best way to buy colors is in sets of two or, preferably, three (ie: 3 blues, 3 reds, 3 yellows, etc.)
2) In most cases, skipping one or even two numbers is okay (ie: 13, 15, 17; 22, 24, 26)
3) Buying by number works most of the time, but not always.
4) Buying according to the cap color doesn't work at all.
5) Light colors--such as those ending in 000 or 0000--are sometimes necessary to get good shading, but don't always match their colors.
6) Personally, I like the cool grays much better than the warm grays, though I suppose those who are true artists will say you need both.
Here are some of my "sets": Yellow: Y11, Y13, Y15 (Y15 looks almost orange compared to 11 & 13) Green: G21, G24 (look almost alike; I bought a G0000 for a lighter shade, but it looks almost blue in comparison, so I use my YG03 instead. I feel I still need another set of greens, perhaps in the low teens or low 20s) Yellow Green: YG0000, YG01, YG03, YG63 Red: R20, R22, R24 (also have R29, but looks a lot like R24) Purple: V12, V15, V17 Blue-Violet: BV000, BV02, BV04 Blue-Green: BG0000, BG000, BG02, BG05 (good for water) Blue: B41, B45 (nice denim look); B0000, B000, B2, B5 (an "OK" blue set, but seems too similar to the Blue-Green. I've not yet found my go-to "true blue" set.) Brown:[/COLOR] E33, E35, E37, E29 Cool Gray: C00, C1, C3 (makes good shadows and sidewalks). I plan to add C5, C7 and C9 for "black" hair. I would like to color with shading. The one and only card I ever uploaded here on SCS was colored sans shading with Copics, and it looks very "flat." I really didn't have any idea what Copics were or what they were capable of at that point in time--I just wanted to color with a marker that wouldn't leave streaks. lol
A few years ago, after doing all the research on Prismas, I ended up investing in the big set; I've yet to color anything that I've been happy with. So I have now turned my attention to Copics.... Perhaps someday I'll be able to use them together.
Your point about buying in sets is a good one. My problem is that I'm just not sure which colors to get. I've spent hours and hours reading everyone's Copic blogs and still feel stupid. lol I thought that maybe buying in sets of "seasonal" shades would make color selection that much easier.
As I said, right now I'm focused on autumn. The autumn images I'd like to color include SU!'s adorable little scarecrow in Happy Fall Y'all, Fall Whimsy, Basket Full of Fun, Season of Thanks, and Lovely Leaves.

It's not as easy as buying a box of Crayolas, is it? lol

Oozak is a great place to buy your markers, or any supplies, their customer service is great and shipping is fast....they are wonderful!!!
As for help with colors and blending, two blogs that really helped me when I was starting out were Marianne Walker's - ilikemarkers.blogspot.com and Suzanne Dean's - scrapbitz.blogspot.com. Both of these offer great tutorials for coloring. Suzanne's has videos on YouTube for coloring that are very helpful and her blog lists a good starting list for color groups. These may help you out....... I've ended up with all the markers, except the florescent ones and find I now have my favorite combos for sure.......
And, I do find I like using the different gray colors for the different color groups on the color wheel. The more you play, the more uses you find depending on what you are coloring. However, lookout, these little buggers are very addicting!!!

An added bonus with Copics is this company is not going to be here today and gone tomorrow like so many companies and products in this craft industry. You don't need to over extend your budget to get them before they are gone. You can take you time in selecting them and be happy with each and every marker you acquire .

Who would've thought that buying markers would be so traumatic?! lol I too have agonized over which style, which colors, which paper. It's just such a big investment... Haven't had a chance to check out the additional sites you suggested, but will definitely do so. Thanks!
I actually would use Y32, Y35 and a touch of Y38. the set is a more golden yellow and reminds me of him. His little t-shirt I would go bright red with R24 and R29.

Yes! Exactly what Michelle said! That Y32-Y38 run is one of my favorite combos across the board.
