Default Copic Chaos

I love coming to Splictcoast to see all the lovely creations and I frequently see Copic markers as the coloring medium. Can anyone share some insight about these with me? I've done some very brief online "research" so here is my question....are there different kinds of Copic makers? I see something called a sketch marker....is there a difference in this as opposed to markers without sketch in their name? Are the markers available in different tips?

The sketch and the ciao have the same tips, the same ink inside and both are refillable and you can replace the tips. The Ciaos come in 144 colors, the sketch comes in over twice that many colors.

Ciaos are much cheaper. Sketch will fit in the airbrush system but you can make the ciaos work with a little modification.

Ciaos are great for starting out and getting your feet wet. I have all the ciaos and I think they are wonderful. I have added some sketch and original markers as well. There is NO difference in the quality and other than the shape of the marker, there really is no difference between the sketch and the ciao unless you plan on doing lots of airbrushing.

Thanks so much for the reply. You have helped immensely! I don't really do anything with all the supplies I "collect", but I hope to start so cost is definitely an issue when just beginning. THANKS AGAIN & HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING

Well the difference is the barrel size too.. Ciao is the smallest, then sketch, then original.. If you plan on doing a lot of coloring, and don't want to refill often, then purchase the latter...

I love all of the color choices that are available in sketch. If you haven't contacted the copic company, please do so...they will send you a complimentary color chart if you request it. ;)

I really appreciated the ilikemarkers blog...I found the link on here, and read the whole thing from beginning to end before purchasing some copics...now I occasionally refer to it for coloring tips and combo ideas. It's a wealth of info...from beginner to advanced!
