I was not sure where to post this...but I just gotta tell you all about the coolest thing I discovered today at Scrapbook Expo in Atlanta. It is called the Crop-A-dile! Have you seen this thing? It has eight tools http://www.weronthenet.com/products/...html?cropadilein one to set eyelets (silently), snaps, etc....I have a TON of eyelets that I never use because it was too much of a pain to set them...but NOW....I can pull those eyelets off the shelf! This thing is WAY cool....sorry so long, just had to share....check it out!
my bf's mom has one of these....i have yet to have the occasion to try it..looks like it might take extra upper body strength as it is a squeeze operated thing. however it looks might nifty!

i just got mine a few weeks ago, i love it. It works wonders through wood and metal. the only drawback is placement, you can only go about 3/4 of a inch in. So if you need to set an eyelet in the middle of a page or card this won't work. It is very very easy to sqeeze and use. to me it was worth it.
I LOVE mine!!!! It doesn't take a lot of strength, just a tight quick squeeze.
I keep mine on my desk and use it a LOT. I am an eylet-ing fool now! Using all those ignored eyelets now, like someone else mentioned. It is SUPER quick and SUPER easy!!!!
Regarding the disadvantage of only being able to go in 3/4" from the edge. This is true! BUT I just eyelet my layers together or whatever I'm doing, then adhere the whole thing to the middle of the page with good adhesive if I need to. So that hasn't created any problems for me yet. And if it does, I'll just use a brad!
I played with one and bought on Sunday at my LSS. It is very cool. Super easy to use. I was amazed at how little effort it took to punch popsicle sticks and chipboard. It sets eyelets amazing! Much easier than my silent setter - which I love.
A little pricey - try to find on sale or with a coupon - but worth the $$.

Does it punch through chipboard? I have looked at these at HL and Michaels and thought about using my coupon to get one. I have been on the fence but I think that I am about to go over the top and down.
It punches easily through chipboard! I initally balked at short reach of the crop-a-dile, but now I'm glad I got one (1/2 off online). I just use my Silent Setter if it is too far in.
I lust after that tool. Can't wait to get one. I've been told that it will even punch through the lunchbox tins so you can run ribbon around the top.

Just got one with a 50% coupon and so far I've punched a hole in:
a couple of pieces of card board folded together
My garbage can
The hard plastic basket/bin things from Walmart that I keep old newpapers in to recycle
The top of a water bottle (hard part, through the threads for the cap)
The only thing that I had to use a little muscle to get through was...the SNOW SHOVEL LOL yes, a real, thick snow shovel. My husband was impressed...but not thrilled with the snow shovel routine.
Haven't had a chance to acutally set any eyelets, I've been busy punching holes in stuff...
Thanks for all the info on this awesome tool! I ran to ebay to see what was going on there. I got one!! It should be here in the mail tomorrow!! I will have to dust my eyelets off... they have been on the shelf awhile ~ right beside the hammer. lol Thanks again for sharing, I am so excited to get this fun tool and play!!
I bought mine a few months back and love it. I am actually using my eyeylets again! Too bad I gave away a huge amount last summer in my garage sale, LOL!
Ok this tool sounds awesome but I have a stupid question. It "looks" so big and bulky. Is it actually easy to squeeze? Because I have problems with my hands and would be afraid that it would be too hard to actually squeeze as it cuts through all this stuff mentioned.
it's really easy to sqeeze...easier than a QK...I've used it non-stop since I got mine...I use it on my cards all the time...and so quiet that I can use it at night when the kids are sleeping (since my room is right next to their bedroom)...I love my COD!!
I have seen this.. BUT my question is HOW far will it go into a card to set an eyelet?
After reading the comments.
I don't think far enough for me so I'll stay with my hammer lol...

I love mine! I bought it a few months to go. I thought I was going to have to throw away some eyelets that I bought because they wouldn't "fold down" when I used the setter and hammer. I thought it was the surface that I was on and changed that a million times. But when I got this it set EVERYTHING!!! I just wish I thought of something like this!
Okay, I got mine in the mail, played with it, its SO easy to use. Is there any secrets or little tricks I am missing with this tool though? Just want to make sure I get all the fun out of it I can!! Have to dust off my eyelets now and get busy! Didn't take me long to figure out the little heads turn to adjust to sizes of eyelets, I only crushed 2! lol

Me, too! I crushed one before I figured out (by reading the directions!) that those miniscule numbers mean something and I'd better use the right ones!
You do have to be careful, tho....it can have a mean bite...some eyelets seem to be made out of harder material than others...when I had to squeeze twice to get one flat, I squeezed too hard and again almost ruined one. But all in all, I really like it and I'm excited about being able to use my eyelets.
I bought mine online and it was $30.00.

If hubby says crop-a-diles are too expensive either 1) get him to set a dozen or so eyelets in something or 2)set eyelets when he's having a nap! I saw them in Vegas and fell in love. I have arthritis in my hands and I can still squeeze this thing. As I demo it all day long in my LSS, I have yet to have sore hands. I've sold almost 3 dozen of them and haven't had a complaint-it is a definite "must have" scrapbook tool.
But thats my "finally-eyelet-using-two-bits."
I found it at HL- and got it with a 40% off coupon. And then my husband punched through like 40 pieces of paper at once and decided it was a cool thing after all.
Actually he'd probably love it if the handle wasn't pink. There are so many metal pieces sticking off of it it's very manly
I had been trying to talk myself out of this (already have 3 eyelet setters) but bought it on sale at my LSS last weekend on sale after using it for a make & take. It is AWESOME!!

Just wanted to let all of you know, I will be taking up a collection for my electric bill this month. What with all the great things like the Crop-a-dile that you guys post about on here, I won't be able to pay it this month, lol!!
Seriously though- thanks for all the great feedback, I had heard this was an amazing tool and you all just confirmed it. I am off to spend my child's inheritance...

I couldn't resist any longer! It's on sale at Joann.com for about $20+ but with free shipping this week, it's an even better deal! The girl at my LSS showed it to the me the other day and convinced me! She punched holes in a pad of paper, set an eyelet in the pad and also said you can use an eyelet on EACH side (top & bottom) without crushing them, which is great for tags or booklets so you don't see the messy, crushed side! Can't wait to try this!

Anyone else who wants it go on line and download Hobby Lobby's 40% off coupon for this week. I believe they are like 24 something without the coupon. This is definately the way to go.

I finally got mine at HL last week with the 40% coupon. They were always out of stock. Fortunately we have 3 HLs within driving distance and I checked when in the area. They were the least expensive that I've found.
