Default Converted Mono Adhesive Users - What do you use now?

I've been using mono adhesive for the last 6 years or pretty much my entire paper crafting career. I'm coming to the end of my bulk ordered Mono refills and I'm considering changing things up before placing that next order. I've noticed the Mono is not holding together my larger projects like scrapbook pages very well.

Please sell me on another dry adhesive (don't care for glue on most projects). For those who made the switch from Mono, what did you go to and what do you see as the advantages of the new product?

Sell me ladies

ATG...714 specifically with tape depot tape. Hold is permanent...tape is very very inexpensive and I make a LOT of cards.

I LOVE the ADTECH brand of tape runner. VERY sticky and I have never had anything fall apart. It is also much cheaper than Mono tape runner.

I really like my Glue Glider Pro. I know many people have concerns about the cost of refills (I stock up when they are on sale or I have a coupon) and also the amount of plastic waste. I like that the GGP is easy to use and holds all my projects together well. I am interested in seeing what others are using!

I went from mono adhesive to my ATG 714. It is SO much less costly, and my projects hold together SO much better. There is a bit of a learning curve to using it, but I have never regretted the switch.

I went from mono and glue dots to an ATG 714. I LOVE IT!! The initial cost up from is a bit pricey but, in the long run you save tons of money on refills. Plus the adhesive is super sticky!!

I, too, have always used Mono Multi in the green and white bottle. I still like to use it for some things, especially smaller die cuts and images. I don't scrapbook anymore, so that hasn't been a factor in what adhesive I used.

I recently got the ATG 714 gun and I'm still in the learning curve with it. I think I like it, and it does really well to hold card fronts to my card bases. I find it a little awkward to use on the smaller things like Nesties, etc. so I still want to keep a supply of Mono handy.

The ATG is very cost effective once you get past the cost of the gun itself.

Oh, and another thing about the ATG gun, you had better be sure of your placement when you stick something down with it, cause it's really stuck. No wiggle room like you have with Mono.

I buy the AdTech brand at Walmart. Cheap, sticks great and easily found! I don't have as much trouble with them as I did with the Tombow either.

i also buy the adtech adhesive. very sticky and things hold nicely. at walmart, you can get 1 filled runner for 3.50 or a package of 2 refills for 2.50. at christmas time, i got alot of filled runners for only 1.00!!! i usually get 2 packages of refills everytime i go to walmart (or micheals) so i never run out!

Another vote for the ATG 714. I also ordered refills from The Tape Depot, but don't think I will be re-ordering from them. Their refills (at least the batch I received) have a tendency to curve away from the core; it's hard to explain, but they end up looking like shallow saucers. Plus about halfway thru the roll, I lose a lot of adhesive because it tends to roll up on itself on the back of whatever I'm applying it to. I ordered my ATG and my first refills from Framing Supplies, and I'll be going back to them for the original 3M tape.

Another ATG 714 user here. I got mine from framing supplies. Great company. I always get my 3M refills there too. If it broke today, I would order another. It didn't take long to get used to it.

I have and use all of the above, depending on the project. But for 3-D projects I now use Scor-Tape. LOVE it!!

Mostly I use the ATG gun - 714. I was soooo hesitant to buy it at first cuz of the size. I thought it would be bulky and hard to use (I have carpal tunnel) I was WRONG. Its comfortable in the hand and easy to use.

But I do use a few other glues for different things -
I make alot of boxes and gift enclosures. For those I use Scor-Tape.Tears super easy and the paper backing peels right off.

Chipboard albums are another favorite of mine and for those I use Zip Dry liquid glue. I find that I just can't put the paper on exactly perfect right away and the dry glues don't allow you to move it over a smidge - the zip dry glue has just enough time for me to nudge the paper to the edge better and then it stays stuck

I couldn't be w/o either of those 3 glues. Hope this helps

Ekip2 - I just checked out your blog. Nice! I love to crochet also - is there a website somewhere for the small crocheted animals? I think I've read about these on a crochet site somewhere, but I have no idea where or when.

I've never liked the mono adhesive - it just never held for me and was rather expensive. I started out with just plain scotch double stick tape that I bought in bulk at walmart, now I use an ATG gun which holds scotch double stick.

I'm glad you mentioned the size because that is a hesitation for me. It's funny but I don't like the huge industrial look of it It won't look "cute" on my desk. Sounds like I need to get over that and order one. The trouble is finding one in stock! Several places I've found through good search are on backorder until end of March.

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions!

I had issues with the ATG and it's looks at first so I used plastic friendly paint and painted the darn thing. It now matches my room and loooks cute on my desk. I do love my ATG have from the start but the look was what had kept me from purchasing earlier and now I've had mine for almost 2 years and haven't looked back.

ATG 714...I switched and I never want to go back, it's lighter then I ever thought it would be. I never really found there to be much of a learning curve with it, but i did watch some videos of people using it.

In the long run the cost is going to be a lot cheaper then anyother adhesive, the adhesive lasts a long time (I used to run out of adhesive after only making 3 cards sometimes), and it is a very permanent stick, I don't have to worry about things falling apart down the line anymore.

Hi, Sarah.
Lasting Memories in Lynnwood recently added a new tape runner to their line of products they carry. I can't remember who makes it but it might be worth stopping by and giving it a try. Just ask the girls at the sales counter...they should be able to help you.

I use a combination of adhesives too.

My main go-to adhesive is the ATG 714 with Tape Depot tape. Economical and sticks like mad. I use this at home for just about everything from gift wrapping to sealing envelopes to scraping and cardmaking. LOVE it!

If I'm doing thin margin layers, I use Tombo Mono Multi in the green and white bottle. It gives me a bit of wiggle room to get them just right.

I also have a Glue Glider Pro that I take cropping with me sometimes. I mostly use it for classes when space is tight and I won't be using a ton of adhesive, KWIM?

I use Scor Tape for boxes or 3 D projects and to add a stripe of glitter to projects.

I also use Zip Dry when I really need something super stuck like felt or heavy material.

I've never used tape runners. They never seemed economical enough to me.

Mono Multi in the green and white bottle first choice, or Ad-Tech adhesive tape runner (MUCH better than Tombow and very cheap at Wal-Mart)! Love Zip Dry too, but the smell is a bit much. I tried the ATG but I have joint problems with my hands and did not like it.
