Hi,
I need to get a coluzzle for a niece's birthday card (which is coming up fast) since I want to try and make a hair gel card. I can't find anything that is appropriate to trace around (for my oval/circle) and cut out with an ex-acto knife (so it fits well with the baggie I am using).
I phoned around and a local scapbook store has a set for 15.00. Do you think I am going to be getting a good value? I always get EVERYTHING (almost) from SU, since I think their quality is so superior. But I don't have time to order one.
Denise
p.s. guess the reason I am asking this is I have no idea how to use a coluzzle, what they are made of, how durable, etc. That's a big price difference between SU's 27.95 and 15.00. And their set (the girl said) had everything. Hmmm...........
i have coluzzle and love them. the set she is talking about should have a mat, the knife, and a template or two. Mine had a heart template and something else..might have been ovals or circles? I love using this. Check what she has at the store first, but the deal sounds good. I got the companion circles from SU when they had them, and they are the same quality of the ones I got at Micheal's and AC Moore. Hope this helps!

It is a template with guides that you can use with a special craft knife to cut out various shapes. You just insert your knife into the guide for the size that you want to cut, run your knife inside the guide and your shape is cut out. It is fairly easy to use.
The coluzzle that SU sells is the same one you can buy in stores. So, don't sweat it
Yes, the ones fromt he store is exactly like SU's....just buy it from your craft store. You can also buy them separately...the mat, knife & template. You'll love it.
they have a purse and file folder templates too!
I love coluzzle!
My favorite tip about coluzzle is rub your CS with wax paper first then cut with the template..it makes the knife thingy glide like butta
Don't fret!
Just get the one from the store... even if it only lasts a short time, it was still half the price. Then also, you can see if you like it. If you do, then maybe you will invest in Stampin' Up's!

the coluzzle is awesome!!!! I like using it to make the shapes for my shaker cards. There is a couple of things to make "coluzzling" easier:
Make sure you remove all of the protective covering from the template- front and back.
Always use it with the coluzzle mat- nothing else will work.
You can mark every other line with a sharpie- this helps you remember which line you are working with.
And always hold the knife straight up and down, not slanted like a pencil.
I will tell you this, I own the Sizzix and over 700 dies for it. Guess what I use most of the time? My Coluzzle templates. Light weight, easy to use, awesome effects. And, go to www.creativexpress.com for great discounts on this product!
With SU you get the Oval and circle template and the mat and blade in a special keeper case. It's a nice combo... AND don't forget if you have a problem with anything you get from SU you can get it replaced!
I got mine about a week ago after doing a tunnel card workshop..i love it i got mine at a craft store in my city and it was like half the price with 2 mats 2 templates and the knife. i use it all the time....
