I was examining the Simple Delights kit on page 14 of the new catalog. I noticed that in the kit you get a River Rock stampin spot and a Soft Sky stampin spot. In the kit at the bottom of the page you get a Purely Pomegranate stampin spot. So if SU is manufacturing these for the kits, why can't they sell us a set of all 6 colors in the stampin spot size???

I totally agree with the In Colors being available in spots. Personally, I have all the spots and only two full sized ink pads, black and brown. I would definately buy them! The only benefit to getting the full sized In Color pads is that I could use them to ink my wheels. I am still so undecided about those colors since the colors are so great! I am hosting a Su party in September so I am trying to decide by then. Maybe if enough people suggest it, they may make it available.
Funny, I was just thinking the same thing the other night. I love the spots except for inking REALLY big stamps. I don't have the funds to buy all the colors I want so the spots work really well and I love the In Color colors too!
I ordered a stack of these in order to make my own spots, since I've decided I prefer to work with the spots over the full sized pads. If you can get together with someone else on sharing the refills, you could have in color spots pretty cheaply.

Oh, I should add that it does not take much ink at all to completely saturate one of these spots, and they are just like the Stampin Up spots.
I bought the spots from welburn to make my own as well. Unless you order a ton- the shipping works out so it costs just a little under the cost of a full size pad- but the reinker will last for a pretty long time- so I think overall it's a better deal than the full size pad.
Now I just have to wait until SAB to get the reinkers!
(I've made my own spots with some of the other colors though- I had some full sized pads and didn't want to buy the full set of spots- and it worked like a charm, not to mention was so entertaining to watch them fill up!)
My SILs and I are sharing the reinkers and filling our own spots. We all live close enough to eachother, so there won't be additional shipping like in a swap. And we figured the costs so it will be saving us $$$ (not really because we'll probably just buy more stamps with it!) Anyhow, none of us think we will be using the colors enough to buy each of the full sized pads. We'd just like a little *taste* of each color.
Maybe it's just me but I don't know if I enjoy the stampin spots as much as I do my large pads? I got the spots because it was cheaper but may be I just don't know the technique of making them cover my stamps evenly?
It's not just you. I always end up wishing I had the full pad (I have about half the colors in classic & craft). The spots ARE nice if you JUST want to do letters in your scrapbook, though. And it's a nice way to sample the colors...

Can you please tell me where I can get the uninked spots you are talking about? That sounds much better to me.
I was also thinking about this last night. I really want to try all the colors, but I don't want to invest that much money when they're just going to discontinue it.
But then again I like my regular ink pads much better compared to the regular spots.
Thanks for sharing this website. I have checked it out and I think it would be great to get some and make my own spots. I'm glad someone tried them cuz I"m always unsure about buying something I haven't seen or tried. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for posting this.
I've been wanting to do exactly this but had no idea where to find the 1" ink spots...even after a ton of google searches.
You just totally made my weekend!
I wanted to do this very thing. My motives were just to save money not because I like the spots. Although, I do have all the colors in craft spots and love them. But I figured the cost plus shipping for a spot and refill ink verses buying just the full size ink pad. It's 5.44 for the ink and a spot and 5.78 for a full size pad. If I had several people doing the same thing and could share the refill ink (I would quess it would ink at least for spots) and split the shipping with more people it would cut the cost quite a bit. But for 34 cents savings, I'll just order a couple of the full size pads.
