How is the color caddy working these days? I remember when it first came out that there were some problems with it not spinning very well. I would like to get one with my SAB order (it's always a big one...my demo loves it!) but not if it's not a good product.
Thoughts? And when you post, can you tell me when you got yours (if you remember)?
I have had mine for quite some time with the extender. I did put it on a lazy susan to make it spin better, but it works great! My DH just made me this so I haven't decided what to do with mine yet, so if anyone is interested, let me know, LOL.
Just a FYI on the spinning issue. Stampin'Up! came out and said that it isn't supposed to spin freely. They didn't want the ink pads coming out and flying everywhere. It does need to be turned by hand to make it turn, but it isn't hard to do. I love mine.

I found out exactly why it is made the way it is. I put mine on a "lazy susan" so it would spin easier and wow! It is so hard to keep it still to get the pads in and out! It is so much better if you use it the way it was designed....at least it is for me. (And I love it so much, I have 3 of them.)

I have two Color Caddies and consider this item to be one of the best purchases I've made. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I think the spinning issues may be related to the installation of the felt pad on the bottom to keep it from sliding on your table/desk.
A round felt pad comes with it and you have to peel off the backing and stick it on the bottom of the caddy. The directions don't tell you this, but before you remove the backing, punch out the center of the pad (it's perforated and comes out easily). The part you stick to the caddy is just the outside ring. If you put the entire felt pad on, it would interfere with the movement of the spindle making it difficult to turn.
Thanks for the tip, Kiko! I got a color caddy earlier this week and put the whole pad on the bottom. Boy that sucker would not spin! I've now removed the middle part of the pad as you said and it's much better. I was this close to packing it up and shipping it back. It's great to have all the colors at my fingertips.

What a great storage. Your DH did a fantastic job. Would he consider taking orders?
I am turning a spare room into a crafting room this year and have chosen white for the color of the desk and shelving unit. This storage unit would go perfectly.

I keep gong back and forth on getting this too. Could anyone please tell me the dimensions of the caddy?
How tall is it? Do any of you have the extender too? How much taller is it with the extender and how wide is it?
I would need it to fit in a space on my work table.
Thanks so much!
It's square, with 9" sides and a 13" diagonal across opposite corners. I have about a 1/2" clearance from my wall so it can spin, so it comes about 13 1/2" from the wall in total. In terms of height I have the extender on it, which from the bottom to the top of the handle is about 19" tall. I think the extender adds just under 3", so without it it's probably a bit more than 16" tall. It seems pretty sturdy, though mine sways a little at the top. But I don't think that will be a problem unless I get into a really wild stamping mood...then watch out! :-)
I just got one for Christmas. Mine spins rather stiffly, but it does make sense so that parts don't fly across the room. However, I do have a lazy susan I might put it on. Otherwise, I love it! It's so much nicer having all my ink pads at my fingertips instead of having to go digging for them. DH gave it to me for Christmas.

Thanks so much for the measurements! I wrote it down and will have to decide if that's what I want or a wall mounted one. I have to see if this will fit on my table.

If you like the idea of wood construction rather than moulded plastic, I noticed a guy on eBay selling ones he makes himself. They don't have the same level of finish as Wendy's (although he says you can send him a sketch of anything you want and he'll give you a price on making it) so if Wendy's DH doesn't want to become an SCS caddy slave you could try searching for ink pad caddy on eBay and see if they take your fancy!
I too have been thinking of getting a caddy but wondered if it would hold other stamp sets and not just SU. Will it hold CTMH and the pads that u buy from Joann's etc.?
I have several different brands of ink in mine and have had no problems. However, I don't own any CTMH so I can't vouch for that one. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't fit unless they are waaayyy different from the SU! type.
I ordered the caddy and extender set recently. I'm sending it back. It's so heavy once I loaded the ink pads that it's wobbly and sort of lop-sided. Seems very flimsy, to me for the weight it must bear. It won't spin without using both hands and strong-arming it. Plus, the top handle barely screws onto the extender pole, making the handle unscrew when you try to spin the caddy. I am VERY disappointed in it. I called DS and they said I have to pay to ship it back, as there is *nothing wrong with it*. Go figure! I have to exchange it for other merchandise rather than be refunded my money. I feel for costing close to $75, the thing should work properly.
I got my first one when they first came out and I LOVE it!!! I got my second one with my Great Rewards, and I keep my old "In Colors" and craft pads in there.

I don't have one yet but am thinking about buying one next month (it is my stamp club month yea - during sale-a-bration time!).
My situation is I would need to move it back and forth to the area I make my cards at - how well would I be able to do this with a full caddy? If I can't easily move it to where I need it then there is no sense buying it - especially if I would have to pay for mailing it back to them if I'm not happy.
Thanks for your input!

I have three of them and just love them. I had two right when they first came out - one for Craft and one for Classic ink. The third holds my In Colors, metallic pads, spectrums, neutral Craft inks, VersaMark and Staz On pads.
They spin just fine and I use mine all the time, especially my Classic ink Color Caddy.

Have you looked into the portaink? I'm thinking about getting it because it's so easily moved, but I also saw someone who used photo storage boxes and they're also portable, plus way cheaper.
