Default Color Caddy

I rec'd my SU Color Caddy yesterday and immediately put it together. Was very disappointed to realize it didn't spin. Did I put it together wrong or is it supposed to be stationary? Just makes sense that it would spin for easy access.

I went to the Container Store and bought a turntable to set mine on. SU! made them not to turn easily, thinking we would send our pads flying? at least that's the explanation they gave. I've used mine for many years with the turntable underneath, and love it.

It should definitely turn, but not spin too freely.

On the bottom felt pad, did you remove the center? Only the outer ring should be glued to the bottom.

I had to remove the center ring felt piece and it does turn but not without a good bit of help. I guess I thought it would be more like a turntable movement. Oh, well, I can deal with it.

Glad you got it to turn better. The movement is more of a Rubic Cube type of movement, it takes deliberate pressure to turn it. I have three color caddies so I'm definitely a fan.

I've seen some fairly reasonably priced turntables that have caught my eye at Bed, Bath & Beyond that I might try when I relocate all my stuff to a different room in the house sometime this spring.

If your caddy isn't full try shifting the pads to the bottom of each column. I found mine turned a lot better when the weight was at the bottom of the rows.

I bought a cheap lazy suzan at Target (be sure to measure the bottom of the caddy before buying something to set it on!!) and it makes the caddy much friendlier.

ALSO - The handle on top - if it is tightened to much it will not spin at all. Play with it and get to where you like it.
That happen to me when I first got mine and then another SCSer gave me this tip and now mine is fine and dpins when I move it with ease.

Mine moves in a jerky fashion as well. I like the idea of the lazy susan--I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the tip!
