Chipboard and glitter: what's the best adhesive to use?
I recently invested in some of the glitter from SU thinking I would use it to decorate some of my chipboard shapes. Well, it was a nice thought. But, that's about all.
How in the heck do you get glitter to stick and stay stuck to the chipboard. I am using th Tombo Mono glue that is recommended for this purpose in the SU idea book. But, I'm not please with the results.
What do you suggest?
martha stewart has a glue pad and glue set for sale at walmart, i think for $5
but i haven't tried it, if i did buy it, i would just turn the pad upside down onto the chipboard and then sprinkle the glitter on, then turn the chipboard upside down and flick the majority off. i have the stazon glue pad but i am not real pleased with it, my glitter doesn't stay on even after a couple of days, when i barely touch it to see it's durancy. the instructions say, 1 teaspoon for 100 stampings but i did another teaspoon for my next try, which i haven't tried yet.
If you have heat & stick powder, it works great! Coat the chipboard with versamark. Cover with heat & stick powder; heat just until melted (don't overheat). Pour on the glitter, shake off the excess and heat again briefly to set the glitter into the adhesive.

Thank you for the tip. I don't have it but, if it works it would be worth the investment. Thanks for explaining how to use it- that's one of the reasons I didn't have it.
I paint my chipboard with mod podge and dump the glitter on before it starts drying. Then, let it dry and tap the excess off. You can also ink or paint it before doing this.
If you use the xyron, after you apply the glitter try covering it with a sheet of wax paper and running over the whole thing with your brayer to push the glitter down into the adhesive. This works best if you have a hard acrylic roller for in your brayer. I would think that even pushing it down with your hands or the backside of a wood stamp mount would accomplish the same thing. It makes it stick better.

I hadn't even thought of mod podge. Thanks for this idea.

This is also good to know. And it makes since to push it down.
The glitter is not falling off of this card at all, and I've had it out for over 2 months. You just have to give the CE plenty of time to dry.
Another great idea. I don't have crystal effects but, I do have Liquid Glass from CTMH, I'll give that a try. I think they are pretty close to being the same product.
