Whoohooo... I have officially enabled someone... this might be a first Lisa! LOL! You will love them. I like my pads a little dry so when they need re-inking.. I usually just add a few drops.
I think I will have to try the blender pens... I be they work.. I have used a reg. watercolor brush with them and it worked fine.
Don't you lose the powdery chalkiness by using watercolor brush or blender pens though?
I have never tried it, now I am intrigued!
I love the soft, silky feel they have!
This is one of my fave cards made with the petal point inks. It almost looks like there's a vellum overlay, but that is just the softness of the ink!
Yes they are. The chalk inks give a completely different texture. It is very confusing because especially with the flower shaped multipad they look exactly the same.
The cats's eyes are so cheap though a few bucks, so just buy a couple and try would be my advice, I am another junkie!
Thanks, Ally...
Guess i'mma jumping on this wagon since I am a newbie but a longtime junkie! Appreciate the feedback.

OM GOSH! I love that feel... I thought it was just me:rolleyes: it's as smooth as a R&B love song babay!
You all have such KEWL samples..and ideas.... TFS!!!.
All this talk about chalk ink got me thinking... I have been storing my chalk ink pads (the full size ones) upside down. Anyone know if this is the right way? Lisa? anyone?
I just have the Earths Regals:
Warm Red (similar to Rose Red, also coordinates with Real Red)
Warm Violet (Similar to the old Marvelous Magenta, but coordinates with Elegant Eggplant)
Azurite (close to Ballet Blue)
Blue Iris (close to Night of Navy)
Olive Pastel (Old Olive clone)
Yellow Ochre (more mustard clone)
Burnt Sienna (think really rust)
Dark Brown (CHOCOLATE CHIP--yummy)
I love all of the colors but the Warm Violet. Not bad for eight colors that someone else picked out!

I'm not Lisa, but I don't know that it matters with pigment style inks. I've never stored mine upside down. The only thing I make sure of is that the lids are on proper when I do store them, so they don't dry out. I keep Cat's Eyes in the stamp cases we carry, cuz they're so handy and I can see all my Eyes at one time.

I just have to add one more comment - twice I have gone downstairs to my craft room and found that the cats had knocked my craft petal inks on the floor and the lid had fallen off. They sat at least all night - sometimes longer - without the lids. The pads were still juicy! I did buy the reinkers along with them, but haven't had to use them except on the dark brown (which I use all the time for distressing, sponging the edges, etc.).
And I don't store them upside down, either.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my chalk pads! I wish SU would come up with the option to have them in all their colors. That would be awesome!
I added a little sparkle (by adding ~ 1/4 tsp Pearl Ex in a 2 oz sample hairspray bottle) . I remember the day I made it, another SCS member posted a card with brayered chalk inks that was so pretty that I stopped cruising thru the gallery, and got out my chalk inks and went to town!
I suggest buying colors that coordinate - I try to get at least 3 colors that coordinate (of course I am always thinking of which SU color the colors will coordinate with.........)
I have all but two of the Colorbox chalk inks in the full size pads. (The last two colors will be ordered SOON!) I love them so much I am contemplating buying the cats eye pads as well. I tend to reach for these as often, if not MORE often, than my SU! pads. They stamp so smoothly and the colors are so rich ... I am in love!
Oh yeah. Chalk inks ROCK. I can't imagine my life without them. Very very cool!
I hope we get some more colors in the new catty!
This is my secret wish....that *maybe* we will get a better assortment of them in the next catty, and with closer color matches. Maybe now that clearsnap has it new owners, they may want to work closer with SU!;)

Julie, Did you know there was a really beeautiful song out there many years ago that began with "I'm not Lisa, my name is Julie" .
I'm a nerd but I just thought it was kewl you began your post that way.
Didn't mean to hijack. I just got the earth elements color box recently and haven't played with them yet. I'm so happy to find this thread and hear all the great comments.
If I could only have a certain amount of items to stamp with (Oh man the thought of that scares me) chalks would be in the top 5. Just such a forgiving, soft touch.
Just wish that there would be some kind of soft yellow, I keep a wishin'!
For those of you asking about uses...here are a few more besides DTP...
I've successfully colored images with them...using a pointy tipped cotton swab. The effect is like nothing else...so rich! Kind of like the "anti-watercolor" I guess.
Most of the colors show up beautifully when stamped on the darker colors of cardstock. I always forget this, but it's a beautiful effect!
I need to run (to Hobby Lobby, LOL!) but when I get home I'll post a chalk resist technique and a couple of samples.
Did you ever post this technique? I can't find it and I'm looking for a technique that uses chalk ink, black or brown cardstock and a black embossed image. Ring any bells??
After reading all of your comments about the Chalk Fluid inks I am anxious to get home and give these chalks another try. About 2 years ago I purchased several of them, but I quickly put them away after I found them inking heavily my images. I guess I was not using them properly. I would love to get some use out, instead of thinking I wasted my money (even if I bought them at half price at HL). Please share how you actually use them. Thanks to all!
Love my chalk inks. They're especially great on clear stamps. I didn't know you could get reinkers for them though because I've never seen them! Who carries them?
