Cardstock tearing in Cameo Silhouette

I am fairly new to the Cameo but have had some success with cutting. But I seem to have a problem with paper tearing at intricate cuts. I just replaced the blade and I use the recommended settings when cutting. What am I doing wrong?

Also my test cut is always off the paper and cuts in the margin of my mat.

What am I missing here?!!

Make sure you are loading the mat correctly. I suggest doing a search on You Tube for a video that demonstrates how to do this correctly. I made this mistake when I first got my Cameo as well.
As far as the paper tearing for intricate cuts, the pre set settings are basically guidelines. The settings are going to vary for everyone based on what cardstock you are using.
My advice would be to use Bazzill or AC cardstock for your intricate cuts. I get the best results with these papers. Tearing paper means pressure or speed is too high. Intricate cuts should be slowed way down, like 2 or 1 depending on the intricacy.
Try slowing down the speed first, and see how that works. If it still tears, reduce the blade depth as well.

Thank you - I will try these tips. I think its the speed.

I love this machine and I like how easy it is to use. So if I can work a few kinks out I am going to be real HAPPY

I'm not sure about with the Cameo but on the older SD model it's possible for the blade to turn a little bit inside the "housing cartridge", you might try checking that it's facing the correct way?

I am having the same problem with tearing.
I am using Bazzill Basic which is a slightly textured card stock. I have my speed at 2 and blade at 5 and thickness at 33. I chose textured cardstock 80#. It is tearing on the inticut turns.
I put in a new blade and it is still tearing.

Do the blade depth numbers go up or down for less blade thickness? Will a 4 blade depth be less than a 5?
The prompt for textured card stock was blade at 5.

I will also try a speed of 1 and see if that stops the CS from tearing.

Thanks Katrina M !! I set my blade at 3; the speed at 1 and double cut . This time it did NOT tear the paper. It was tearing on the sharp turns
The Silhouette prompt was blade depth at 5, speed at 3 for textured card stock.
I guess I need to only use the Silhouette cut setting prompts as a starting point.
