Default Can you recommend a good brand of Watercolor Pencils...

besides SU...I would like them sooner than later and don't want to have to order something if I can avoid it. BTW, are pencils the best way to go...I have never used any kind of watercolor anything. TIA!

I have Derwents and I like them very much. I think that Prismacolor ones are good, too. HTH!

I have Derwents too and like them. You can buy a smaller set to try them and then buy additional colors individually as you need them.

Faber Castell Albrecht Durer are rated THE best in the research I have done. I would check either Dick Blick or someplace like that to purchase. I have the 120 set and am in LOVE!

I have a set of Cretacolor Aqua Monolith pencils, and they are THE BEST I have ever used, and I have had Derwents and the Faber Castells in the past.

They are almost like the watercolor crayons by SU, but a firmer texture. They are woodless, so you are getting a huge block of colour. I have used them with my blender pens and with my aqua painter directly applied to the tips, as well as using them as an actual pencil. YUMMY! Really hard to find here in Australia, I have no idea about the US
