Talking Can you help me choose a desk, bookshelves and chair from Ikea?

I need to buy a desk, bookshelves and a chair from Ikea. Plus, smaller shelves to store stamps. Would anyone have any advice for me?

If you can tell me how the furniture series is called or if you can post some pictures/links here, that will be fantastic!

Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for a table, I like the Vika Amon. There is a long table top and you pick the legs seperately, which come in a few colors. My mom also has a great table from IKEA called Jonas which has a pull-out panel.

You really have to sit in the chairs to pick one you like. Hubby and I didn't agree on chairs.

I have some Billy bookcases and they are really nice and sturdy. I also love the Expedit bookcases, but they are for large areas.

I could go on for days. I love IKEA.

Heather, the Jonas desk with the pull-out panel looks really interesting! My craft room is small (about 10ft x 8ft), so, the pull-out panel would be a great space saver. I like the birch veneer color.

Thanks for the links!

My mom uses the Jonas in her sewing room. Her room is pretty small, too, so this is a great way to have lots of table space while working, but you can also put it away when you are done. Have fun on your shopping trip!!

I just recently bought a table and chair from IKEA (also a wall shelf).

Table is Galant -- it is just a table top (no drawers). The table top comes in 4 different sizes - I chose the deeper one but not the largest one. You can adjust the legs to whatever height. I like it a lot!

Chair is Allak - faux leather. It's not THE greatest comfiest chair, but for the price it'll do. ;)

I have rolling carts and other shelving already so I did not buy a bookcase.

Look in the kitchen dept for bars to hold punches, etc. People have posted great pics in the last few days!!

They have tons of wall shelves/ledges. I bought one of those but cannot find the name of it. It is for DVDs/CDs - a ledge, but has dividers every 6 inches or so.

Have fun -- it's great to look at everything with the "what crafting stuff can I use this for" eye!

I'll have a look at the products you mentioned. Many thanks for that.

The Expedit series is great too. I think it will be really difficult to choose!

Keep us posted, I'm looking at shelving, too. Expedit is very popular. Be careful with the Billy series, though, because it's only 11" deep, not deep enough to hold 12x12 paper. Has anyone looked at Bonde series? It's 15 3/8" deep, like Expedit, but also has some add-ons like doors to keep dust off our albums. Here's a link to Bonde - I'd like to know what you all think.

Great Stamp storage - take a look at Vattern high cabinet frame - it comes in two depths one of which is 7.5 inches. Dimensions are 11 3/4 X 7 1/5 X 70 5/8 for $30 US. Then you can buy packages of two shelves for $5. It is bathroom furniture but it would work really well for stamps.

Many thanks to all who replied. After much thinking, I followed Heather's advice and decided I'll order the Jonas desk with pull-out panel and 2 Agerum bookshelves. I found that these will suit my needs (and budget!) best.

For stamp storage, I'll buy several Trissa CD storage boxes. I'll hang them on the wall leaving around 6" gap between them so I can store stamps on top of the boxes as well. Here's the link:

Although Expedit shelves look really nice, I wouldn't be able to fit some of my larger storage boxes there. It would be the same with Billy. Bonde looks fantastic, but I wouldn't like to spend that much money (I'm on a tight budget!). Thanks for your tips!

Thanks for suggesting using bathroom shelves as stamp storage. Very ingenious! I'll keep that in mind in the future.

Here is my desk and bookcase I got from ikea. I can't remember the name of the desk, I saw it on the Mission Organization Tv show when they redid a scrapbook room. The drawers hold all of my tools and embellisments, paper trimmer and scrap paper. I love it. The bookcase is a expedit.

Can't wait to see your new room. You're keeping me inspired to do something with mine. StamperCathy - what a great room. Love the wall colors. Expedit looks great in there! Linda
