Default Can anyone help me with Distress Ink?

I have been seeing so many cards in the gallery that use the Tim Holtz distressed ink. Can anyone tell me how this ink is used. TIA

The only one I've used is the Walnut Ink or Walnut Stain...something like that. I use it to age my papers. Just ink the edges of your paper with it.

I have quite a few of these. It is a really juicy ink that you can also use to emboss with. I like it alot. Check out Tim Holtz website for additional tips.

I use it on almost everything to give it that aged look. I have a small piece of sponge that I use to dab it onto the ink pad, then tap it along the edges of paper. I also have the tea stain reinker that I mixed up with some distilled water into a spray bottle, and use that if I want to age a larger area. HTH.

OMG, I LOVE the Tim Holtz Distress Inks. That's pretty much all I use. I use them with my red rubber stamps and my clear acrylic stamps, I use them to distress the edges of my cardstock/papers. I use a finger dauber to apply the ink to my embossed stencil or Spellbinders Dies.

I use my Distress Inks pretty much every day.

I use these a lot to give most elements of my cards an antique-y look. I use cosmetic sponges from Target to rub them on..you can also spray some water on top of the inks once you've applied them to make the ink run and look more distressed. I like it around the edges too...I use it after I've used Tim's distressing tool (is that what you call it?..it's small circular thing with cutting spots on the "wheel"..)..looks really cool..

Although it's a dye ink, Distress Ink stays wetter for longer than regular dye-based stuff so you can smudge it out and smear it around for different effect. So you can use it for regular stamping or you can use it DTP for different looks to your project.

Like One4joy said, you can get embossing powder to stick to it, too. There's a special distress embossing powder that has little crystals in that brush off after you emboss it so you get a matt, textured look if you're into that vintage, grungy kind of thing.

You need to check out Sherry Cheever's blog, as she uses distress inks on almost everything... Blogs at Splitcoaststampers

and especially see her distressing tutorial... Blogs at Splitcoaststampers

She's the Queen of Distressing in my book! She's given me lots and lots of very helpful advice just the last few days as I'm working on a distressing demo for the store I manage. Check out her stuff.... you'll find lots of inspiration!
