Bragging Rights . . . Who bought the cheapest Cricut?
I was sucked into looking at this at my lss yesterday. Dang! Now I want one! I'm cheap, though. What I want to know is, if you have one, how much did you pay? Where? How (with coupon/sale/whatever)?
Just wanna make sure it is the best price when I actually go shopping! Just another way for me to spend my $$!! (As if I don't already have enough!!)
The mfr. is not allowing stores to take coupons for these, so the days of "phenomenal" deals is over. At first, people were able to get these for like $180! So far, though, I think QVC has a good price...it's about $250 + $11 and change for shipping, but it comes with an additional cartridge, exclusive to QVC, at no extra charge. That's an $80 value. Fantastic, as long as you like the cartridge, lol...
My frustration is that, even if you find a good deal on the machine, Michaels isn't even letting people use coupons on ANY Cricut product, not just the machine itself. So, all of the tools and cartridges are at full price. Don't know if anybody else lets you use coupons on the cartridges.
I got mine for $194 at Michael's with a 40% off coupon (mine was 40% off $299 plus tax.) You have to watch....sometimes Michael's coupon says it excludes the Cricut and sometimes it doesn't. I watched for it every weekend and when it finally did not exclude the Cricut I got right out there and picked mine up!!
When my girls surprised me with one yesterday, they bought it at the Memories Outlet in Bountiful, Utah. $269 on the shelf but everything in the outlet is 30% off so it was $188 plus tax AND the cartridges are $89 less the 30% too. HTH!
I found out from my local mom and pop craft store owner that the mfr. is making distributors sign contracts saying they will not sell it under a certain price point and that Michael's wasn't supposed to be letting people use coupons. It was the mfr's way of helping to protect the little guy from the big chains so that everybody could be equal on this one.

I got mine for $179.40 before tax. Michael's takes Hobby Lobby coupons from the paper and no where on HL coupon does it mention the Cricut, so the girl gave it to me at 40% off. Next, I need to try to get the Animal cartridge that way. I do wonder if it was a fluc, but I'll try again anyways!

Thanks to Frankie, I went and got the LAST Cricut at the Memories Outlet store (we live in the same city - or kinda close, anyway!). Memories said they will not be carrying any more for the same reason that Michaels, Roberts, etc., won't be taking coupons. Can't sell them below a certain price anymore. Glad I got mine (and an extra cartridge, too!).
You guys are ALL enablers! Guess I should never expect to find a reason NOT to get something cool from any of you, eh? Oh well, I guess that's why I post here . . . TO GET VALIDATION!

I got mine from QVC. It think it was $280.00 -ish after tax and shipping. You do get the extra, exclusive cartridge. I think it is called Doodletype. I have read that the extra cartridge is selling for a lot on ebay. So if you buy off qvc and you don't like the extra cartridge, you can probably make a good amount of $ back by selling it.
I don't have one yet, but talking to a girl at our Joanns, they will take a coupon for the cartridges, etc, just not the machine. I do have a coupon from the calendar I bought beginning of the year so I might try to see if it will work....
