I have shied away from using colored pencils because I simply cannot stand the feel of a blending stump in my hand in order to use OMS. Worse than fingernails scraping down a blackboard!
Light bulb moment: I bought an empty Copic Sketch marker and filled it with OMS. Works like a dream. Thought I would share in case someone else could use this idea.

I'm definitely going to try this! I've been using the Swisspers makeup applicators instead of stumps because I don't like the feel either, but this sounds like a MUCH better plan. Thanks for sharing!

The OMS in the hardware store is a different grade than Gamsol and similar, which is artist grade.
OMS, although odorless as the name implies, is still toxic and does give off fumes so, if you're sensitive and/or just want to be safe, use in a well-ventilated area.
Alternatives that have been successfully used in place of OMS are Goo Gone, Vaseline and baby oil. I don't know how they'd do in a Copic marker, but they work with stumps and such. Vaseline definitely wouldn't work in a marker, lol!

I notice the smell with Gamsol. Maybe placing on a marker wouldn’t be as noticeable. However, I smell the alcohol in markers if I am coloring quite a bit. Cracking a window helps. Just not today with the cold weather that came back.
I'm trying to improve my colored pencil projects. What is OMS? Thanks
I'm sorry; I should have typed the full name. I wanted and meant to say "use Gamsol", but couldn't think of the name.

In this YouTube video, Simon Hurley talks about using a Tim Holtz - Alcohol Blending Pen. I have not tried this -- just something that stuck in the back of my mind.
I use Baby Oil most of the time, as it the safest around my pets, and the smell doesn't bother me. I also use Goo Gone sometimes, and that works too. I think I have a dried out Stampin' Up Blender pen. Wonder if that would work to refill with blending fluids like OMS? Not sure how it would work with Baby Oil, but I guess I could just dip the tip in it and use it like that.
