Which Basic ink do you use more often - Black or Brown? I almost always use my Basic Brown ink for images and distressing. I'm would guess I use brown about 90% of the time.
I use Black Stazon alot -- always for words and sentiments -- I think it comes more clear and sharp than basic black. I use Black Stazon often for images, too -- but next would be Basic Black. I don't even have the newer Basic Brown -- just the Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa. I also have a Ranger Distress Pad in Vintage Photo I like to use for distressing -- the pad surface is raised up so nicely and the pad is smaller to hold, it is really easy to DTP the edges with it.
I tend to use either my palette noir or my basic brown, lately I have been using my basic brown about 75% of the time and the black the other 25%. For watercoloring I always use palette or staz on black

I have black stazon and hardly ever use it. Maybe I'll go dig it out now so I have an excuse to go stamp.... not that I ever need an excuse!

Just remember, with the Stazon you should keep it covered at all times as it tends to dry out more quickly, plus it smells. I don't particularly like the small, but many of my friends really enjoy sniffing it (ha ha!!!). They think it smells like almonds -- maybe a little!!!! Also, much harder to clean off the rubber, but the Stazon Remover works fairly well -- I clean my stamps IMMEDIATELY after stamping image as it comes off better the quicker you do it. Let me know how you like it!
Hey...great question! I have ALWAYS used my basic black and the other black would be brilliance or staz on. BUT...I will now try the brown for more of my projects as it seems like that would be not as stark. Hmmm...I am off to make my cocoa packets and will try that brown as I will be using the blending pen
I use Vintage Photo Ranger Distress Ink way more than my black pigment ink by colourbox, but that may be because I find the Ranger pads so much more convenient to use, and plus I don't have to worry about smearing it the way I do with the pigment ink.
I never thought to use my brown inks, but then again, I usually use black for everything. I don't even know why I have the other ink colors; I mosly use them for watercoloring rather than stamping an image. I'll have to did out some of my other ink colors to see how they work with my stamps. Thanks for asking the question; makes me think!
I don't even own basic brown. I just bought Timber Brown stazon. I do a lot with chocolate chip. Even though I like brown, I use black stazon on almost every card.

I use mostly black too. But I'm going to try more brown now!!
TIPS FOR STAZON: If you coat the stamp w/ versamark first, then dip it on the stazon then stamp the image it will clean much easier!!

I use both black and brown a ton! (I use Palettes so mine are Noir and Burnt Umber.) For stamping an image to color I probably use black more, though it depends on the other colors of the card. I use Burnt Umber for that too, sometimes, and use BU for distressing most of the time.
Interesting question...

I use both, depending on what color family I'm working with. I often tend to grab the brown with SS and EE, and black with BB and RR (although that's not necessarily a rule, lol.)
I have used Going Gray, when I wanted a softer look. But I think I like the idea of the brown. I keep meaning to get the newer brown ink pad. I'll have to put it on my next order.
