Hi, does anyone have a list or chart for using the different plates or sandwiches for the big shot. I just got the pink and black one from ebay and I used to have the chart for the cuttlebug but I didn't know if it would be different for the big shot.
Hi Michelle,
did you get a Multi Purpose Platform with your Big Shot? If so, most sandwich directions are printed on the platform.
Cuttlebug embossing folders and Nestabilities are not mentioned though - for CB embossing folders you need the Platform open at Tab 1, then a clear mat, CB folder with CS/paper sandwiched inside and lastly the second clear mat.
For Nestabilities I find it best to have the platform open at Tab 1 and shim with 5 pieces of thin CS. Most sandwich instructions I've seen for Nesties indicate to have the platform open at Tab 2 - but when I did that I used to get marks from the embossing line even if I wanted to cut only. Since using Tab 1 and shims I've had no problems.
For Nestie cutting then, I have platform open at Tab 1, CS shims, clear pad, Nestie die, CS and second clear pad.
For Nestie embossing I use platform at open at Tab 1, CS shims, clear pad, Nestie die, CS, tan polymer pad and the second clear pad.
I have the pink and black Big Shot myself and these sandwiches work perfectly for me. You may need to experiment with shims to see what works with your machine. If you need any more info, feel free to PM me!
I'm trying to make an excel spreadsheet of the sandwich receipes for the Big Shot
Once I have it done I will post it here

THANK YOU, ALICIA!!! Wow, you're such a sweetie for sharing your great list. I have a new Big Kick and have been trying to make a useable list of diff. sandwiches from the many threads here.
Thank you, Michelle, for asking!
May God bless, Sandi

sure thing I know they may not be perfect for every machine but at least it's a guideline to get started
with cuttlebug-itis there weren't many threads to help the people with big kicks/big shots
so I hope this will help us all
hugs and blessings

for the spellbinders dies there is a video on you tube (that's where I got the info) that demonstrates using the dies in the big kick/big shot
hang on and I'll link the video link
What is a shim? I have the pink and black Big shot and I tried using it and it worked but cut the clear hard plactic sheets pretty bad. I was thinking I should buy the Wizard but I have heard that it is hard to use plus I have this new Big Shot and I love how it embosses I mostly use Cuttlebug embossing folders. so I am just going to continue trying different Sandich orders.

the acrylic mats will get cut no matter what dies you use. Just replace them when they warp to badly.
Shim can be cardstock cut to the size of your plates or thin chipboard (cereal boxes)
Alicia, thanks for the wealth of info regarding the Big Shot. I'm having no problems with embossing the cuttle bugs embossing folders, it's such fun. Thank you. I did use a nestie (small oval) and it did well also, it cut the plastic sheet however since you said that's going to happen, i will relax I did buy that tan sheet but it didn't seem to work but I'm going to pull it out again and experience with out fear
With the clear sheets do you have to designate a top and a bottom if so why.
Blessings,
Shirl
When I took all the parts out of the case I labeled everything to make it easier.
One acylic mat is my CUT only the other is EMBOSS only. I use the CUT mat on top of the sandwich for cutting. The EMBOSS mat on top of the sandwich for embossing. This helps me to only use up the one mat to save on replacing it. When the CUT mat is no longer usable I will buy replacements. Make sense?
When embossing using the tan mat in the Big Shot I open the multipurpose platform to Tab1 instead of Tab2. Every machine is different so just keep playing until you find the right thickness.
So is there a difference between the new pink and black big shot and the blue(teal) and black big shot???? I have just ordered some nesties but I own the blue big shot.....with the price of the nesties...sure dont want to mess them up....
The chart looks awesome! Great work!!
Oh and my white platform...it doesnt have the tab 1 and tab 2 things.....I just have to layer the clear acrylic pieces on (does that make any sense?)

The multipurpose Platform is the thing with the Tab1 Tab2 things. It comes with the pink and black one. Other than that and the color they are basically the same machine.
The sandwiches should be the same just experiment. Because you don't have the tabs you might need to use more *shim for your sandwich for the best impressions. Like I said each machine will have different thicknesses for the sandwiches so you have to play a bit to find what works for you.
Enjoy using your nesties!
Hugs and Blessings
Alicia
Hi Ladies,
Just and update regarding the Big Shot and nesties. I found just using both tabs worked best for me. I love embossing and using the nesties for cutting it open up such possibilities. next thing I am going to try is cutting and embossing a diecut...ha. I will post how it all works.

For the blue machine with the white platform (tabless) it is
to cut... white platform, sizzix adapters, acrylic plate, die (blade up), cardstock and acrylic plate.
To emboss... white platform, acrylic plate, die (blade up), cardstock, sizzix silicone mat, impressions pad.
The silicone and impressions were sold in the big impressions starter kit but are now sold seperately.
The sizzix adapters are sold in a pack of 10 but you only need 4 for an even base, these are very inexpensive.
A friend has the newer big shot with the white platform with the tabs. Everytime I use it to cut only it embosses as well slightly. Does anyone else have this problem. Sometimes I don't want the embossing.
I have another question. I put a picture in my profile but it doesn't show when I post?
Thanks,
Shirl
How long ago did you upload it ? I think when I did mine it took a little while for it to appear. If it was more than a day ask in the site problems, suggestions forum to get an answer.
subscribing. thanks everyone for taking the time to post this great info!
