Default Big Shot - Favorite Die Cutters

Hi everyone,

I just got The Big Shot, but I don't have any die cutters yet. They are not cheap, so I wanted to get insight on which you get the most use of of. Does anyone have The Big Shot and have a favorite shape?

Also, do you know if the Matchbox in the stampin up mini catalog is a limited edition? I don't want to miss it, but it's $40!

Thanks for your thoughts!

My favorite dies are the Serif Essentials alphabet. It was an investment but I use it for cardmaking, scrapbooking, and 3-D gift items.

SU! has not announced if the matchbox die will be available in the next catalog due out in July, but I would be surprised if it is not in the next catty.

The top note is awesome, there is so much you can do with it in card making and scrapbooking. It's the first die I bought (and I don't have too many for that matter) and I love it. I just got the matchbox die and it is pricey but it's pretty cool too!

I seriously doubt SU would make the matchbox die a limited edition...it is exclusive to SU. They have been introducing new dies in the mini's and then they put everything into the big catty, but nobody can promise you that.....I would be shocked if it's not in the new catty, though.

Default Big Shot

I also have the Big Shot. Which I LOVE it. I pick up different dies when they have a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby. LSS takes the coupons. The one thing i love about The Big Shot it the way it can take all kinds of dies. I also invested through Joann's sales the cuttlebug folders. You can get them on sale for about $2.99. The cuttlebug dies are less expensive.
I just recently got the Top Note from SU & it's awesome.

Enjoy your new Big Shot.

The Top Note is a must have! It can be used for so many different things--cards, s/b pages, treat bag toppers, box lids, gift tags. The SU exclusive texture plates are really nice too.

Joann's frequently has the Sizzix dies on sale and with a free shipping offer it sure is worth it to place an order! I have ordered once from the Sizzix site when they had an awesome sale. They have a minimum requirement of a $25.00 order and they do charge shipping.

well i must say that i got the big kick for Christmas (to replace my old sizzix) and i purchased the scalloped circles and rectangles Spellbinders nestabilities and i LOVE them.........they work slick in the machine and are by far my fave dies now. and they take up so much less space.......less expensive as you get several dies in one set.........but i do love my SHadowbox alpha dies.

Yea seems like the Top Note is a must! Does anyone know where there is an idea page for those shapes? I cut out some at my cousin's house, and I'm so excited to use them.

Does anyone have the scallop envelope, and do you think it's versatile?

Thanks for all the suggestions!

The scallop envelope is VERY versatile! You can make boxes, purses and all kinds of stuff out of that one!! Someone made some really cute Easter baskets out of it!

I use all the different Sizzix die products, Nestabilities and Impressabilities, as well as ATD embossing templates and Fiskars Texture Plates. All work great!!!

Another vote for the top note and I must say that I LOVE the Scallop Circle too... and the Daisies #2 and the matchbox and the naturally serif alpha... Aren't you glad you asked

Jenn, Thx for the suggestions! Your blog is great! I like how you cut the scallop envelope. It's a totally different use and would save me from buying the scallop edge punch (which happens to be adorable).

Great ideas! I'll be sure to add your blog to my RSS feed.

Now I just can't wait until the die cutters arrive! Well, I have to order them first ...

My first vote is the top note. Second choice is the scalloped envelope.
