Default big shot or big kick is there a difference

I am hoping for some clarity on these machines. what is the difference. there certainly seems to be a difference in price. Can ALL dies out there be used in either machine? I am sure this has come up before...all help truly appreciated. I don't want to purchase a machine that doesn't use the Bigs or BigsXL dies.

Hi! The only difference between the Big Shot and the Big Kick is cosmetic. They are both made by Sizzix - what happened is Sizzix used to sell only the Big Kick in the big box stores (Michaels, Joann, Hobby Lobby) and the Big Shot was sold in boutique stores and online. Now though you can get both the Big Shot and the Big Kick at big box stores, online, and boutique stores.

I would purchase whichever one you can get the cheapest because they both do exactly the same thing. Both will take the Bigz and Bigz XL (though you will need to buy extended cutting plates and crease pad for the Biz XL).

Please let me know if you have any questions!!

I was going to chime in but cardsbynikki explained it perfectly. I have the Big Kick from M's that I bought with a 50% off coupon. Red and white wouldn't be my first pick but for the price I couldn't pass it up.

Carrie asked if "ALL dies out there" could be used in either the Big Kick or the Big Shot. You can use the Bigz and BigzXL, Nestabilities, and other thin dies, but I believe there are some extra-large dies that can only be used in larger machines such as the Grand Calibur. I hope someone else chimes in for clarification. It's tricky to sort all of the information out since it seldom all appears in one place.

There is a load of info on the Sizzix website about which dies work in which machine. If you find a die you like, you can verify that it will work in whatever machine you have.
