I just checked out the Big Bite Cropadile on HSN. I read a bunch of bad reviews. Mostly that the BB is defective. Something about a piece of metal being stuck. Also that the case is too small for the tool. Please if you have the BB let me know what you think. Did they just ship out a bunch of defective tools or is the design bad?
I returned mine, and I soooo wanted it to work! However, I don't think its a bad design, just that mine was not a good one. I did have to ''force'' the large hole punch through the guide the first time.
Initially you had to use a screwdriver to remove the ''feet'' and put it in the case, but they fixed that and anyone who had the original feet received replacements. It fit in the case well, once the feet were removed.
Mine just didn't set eyelets or gromlets well, even though I kept trying. I was using scrap paper, thank goodness - didn't mess up anything crucial.
I do plan to get a new one, just not right now.

I sent mine back, too. Where the metal comes down to punch was off and it could not punch the larger hole. Many people talked about how they fixed theirs, but for the price, I don't think I should have to fix something that was brand new.
I am sticking with my pink friend, the original CAD. The Big Bite is just one of those bandwagons I didn't want to jump on. If I want eyelets in the center of my card, then I just work in layers.
I'm so sorry so many people have been disappointed by the Big Bite. But also glad I didn't fall for it, from the sounds of things!
I used mine in a stamp camp this weekend. My ladies & I all loved it! It gave us no problem & we were able to set our eyelets in the middle of or tri-fold card. Maybe I just lucked out & have a good one?
I have a Silent Setter that has a piece that will make a hole wherever you want to make one.. and I seen it in an email from www.creativexpress.com the other day for only $4.00 you can set eyelets, comes with a case, eyelets, several pieces and a mat.. I use mine whenever I need a hole further in than the CAD will do ~ best $5.00 I spent on a hole maker! Pam

I'm glad I cancelled my order. I ordered the first day but wasn't one of the ones that was shipped early. There were some early reviews that were bad so I went and cancelled mine.
Same for me.
I did get to see it in person at Archiver's and the demo lady had a hard time getting the eyelets to set. If she had been working with it for a while and couldn't do it, I knew I didn't have a chance. LOL I'm happy with my MM Instant Setter. I can put an eyelet anywhere.
I got one from HSN and the hole punches were not lined up right so I sent it back. I got a new one from the LSS this weekend and it is awesome! There are several things that were changed and improved in just a couple of months time.
I have a silent setter and a hammer setter too, but not crazy about either one. I use my CAD a lot more. I think I'd use the Big Bite too since I'd leave it at my station ready to go. I will check it out and see what I think. I can always return it.
**I forgot to add Thank You for the information Airbornewife! That is a great price for the Silent Setter.

Reason: forgot to add a thank you!
I got mine from HSN and it works absolutely perfect. The holes punch just fine, etc. In order to fit the Big Bite in the case, you need to remove the feet by removing the screws first. W R Memory Keepers is now selling the BB2 with removable feet that just snap on. You can email their customer service to be added to a list of people to receive the free replacements. [email protected]
I'm happy with mine!

I too love mine. I was one of the batch to get their first from HSN as well. HSN also called a few weeks ago to say that the company is replacing the feet so it can fit in the case I also bought that day HSN sold them. I just love the way it really gets in the center of things. And also love the extra groments (all 300) of them in with the Big Bite.

I just bought mine this afternoon from Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon.
At the moment, I hate it. The holes punch nicely, but I can't set an eyelet for anything!
The back just gets all smooshed. Sometimes it lookes okay from the front. Sometimes it's almost closed up. I've tried it with light, steady pressure. Quick, hard pressure. Different eyelets. etc. etc. It just won't work. The huge eyelets are even worse!
And what's weird, is when the eyelet is in the paper, it's really hard to match it up in the tool. And I've just been working on little pieces of scrap. I don't want to think about how difficult this is going to be to do on a 12x12 piece of paper.
I'm going to play with it for another day, then it's going back.:(
I finally figured out the eyelets. You put them in the paper, then line it up with the post and press. The backs of my eyelets aren't the best, but the front looks fine. I guess it depends if anyone is looking at the back of the eyelet or not. I'm not a big eyelet user, I like it for it's punching hole capabilities.

I think the initial batch was bad. I ordered one from HSN too and the first one i got was defective. I returned it and got another one and it works ok. At first, I had troubles but I think it's all in how much pressure you apply. I still try to squeeze the dickens out of it!

I just got mine at HL ($39.95 with 40% coupon!) They hadn't even put them on the aisles yet. I found it in a shopping cart waiting for display. I'll try it when I get home.
I have not had a problem with mine. I never even read the neg reviews, because there is always a round of buyers remorse...no offense is meant to anyone.
I never purchased the original CAD, but the BB is what I needed for my scrapbooking. I'm a perfectionist, so I measure with a ruler how far apart I set my embellishments and this tool works, so I do not need to add a layer or try to set with one of my other setters. I always messed it up with those.
My friend bought me the Big Bite (the first round from HSN) and I just got it yesterday. At first, it wouldn't punch the holes properly, then I pushed down hard and a piece of metal popped out. Unfortunately the holes don't align correctly so I'll have to send it back. It's also one of the ones that you have to unscrew the feet to get it in the case. Still, I think it's great and just want a replacement.
mine had a piece of metal in it too. I got mine at HSN in the first round. I just pushed harder and the piece of metal popped out. It works fine and I love it!
I brought my new toy home last night and unpackaged it. It has the feeties that slide on and off - and it fit easily into the case. I played with the moving parts but didn't actually accomplish anything other than confirming it's got to be the version II.
I tried one out at Archivers and was not impressed. It was hard to get enough pressure to set the eyelet, and I never did get it to set exactly right, and the back of the eyelet as smashed and looked really funny. I will stick with my Silent Setter (LOVE IT!) for putting eyelets in the center of my pages. I got it for $5.00 a couple years ago, and it has been great!

I bought mine from HL with a 40% off coupon.
I wanted one because it would punch holes in other materials besides paper. I tried it on leather and fabric, it did fine.
I do a lot of sewing and wanted something that would set bigger eyelets in hard to reach places, like when I make purses. Hope it is up to the challenge.
I was also in Archivers the other night. The manager said the company that makes the big bite has sold out of all that is made for now and there won't be any more sent out to stores for another month.

I was really really shocked when HL got them in stock. My co-worker dragged me over to show them to me because I kept saying probably mid to late March. We still don't have an order number. I'm not surprised they are sold out. We are sold out now. We hadn't even put them out but we had a customer come in inquiring about them so my co-worker and I gave up the ones we were hiding so she could have them because she needed them this weekend and I'm in no rush to mess with it.
Post back about how it goes for setting eyelets on purses!

I will do that. I'm itching for spring so I may have to make a pastel purse to cheer me up!
