I just bought mine on ebay last week for a good deal. The best thing is to google it and check out a few places and make a decision from there. I am not sure but I think ohmycrafts have them on special.
I bought three Cricut Expressions before I actually got one LOL! My dh gave me an Cricut for Christmas --- from Walmart for $284 with two cartridges. Not a bad price but I knew that it was $200 on Black Friday and it drove me nuts. So I returned it and ordered one at Customcrops.com for $249, free shipping and 2 cartridges. The problem was - it never came! They kept extending the backorder date. So I cancelled that order and bought on one ebay -- $207 - free shipping and two cartridges!! I was thrilled! I have it -- I'm using it a ton - and I love it! Good luck with your search.
I personally don't use cartridges anymore. I got the SureCutsALot software to use with my cricut and I can cut ANY true type font, dingbat and svg file. To see the pages I have done with SCAL and my cricut, check out my blog.
Scrapping friends said today to check out some deals with 2 or less cartridges as the machine is the most expensive and you can always get cartridges. So I'm thinking about it.

My local Wal*Mart lowered their Cricut price down to $250 again. It had been $250 last summer, but they raised it several times before Christmas. If you have patience to watch for the best price, Ebay is a great place to get a Cricut.
