Default Best paper for handmade/die cut flowers ?

Hi,

Recently I've noticed a lot of die cut, layered, fancy flowers. Multi layer roses, carnations ...you name it. Nestabilities, My Favorite Things, etc etc

I really like the ones that have plently of dimension. In other words several layers fluffed up into a flower.

One person who makes amazing flowers is Kittie Caracciolo/ kittiekraft. these are the kinds of flowers I want to create.

Can anyone share their experience with the best paper to use ? I tried a tutorial where the paper was misted with water and then rolled and sort of pinched. The result was a delightfully textured paper that was sort of wrinkled.

I tired a variety of papers and couldn't get anything near the tutorial.

I find either my paper is too think (Stampin Up is what I have ) or too thin.

Thanks for your thoughts .....

I make flowers and think SU paper while excellent for somethings,it is not good for flowers. You need a lighter weight paper ,as in some designs you have to really break down the fibers of the paper .Depending on what you want the paper to do and how you are twisting the paper, then you might find misting will make it more pliable. If you go on you Tube you will find many tutorials making many kinds of flowers, with again many types of papers. Have fun, as they can be very addictive.

Default Go to the horse's mouth!

Hey there! I agree wholeheartedly about that amazing Miss Kittie! She is very nice and if you email her, she WILL respond promptly. I bought the Grand Madison window die and the Martha Stewart pine branch punch after seeing her work. She is very inspiring. Email her! She is also on SCS under kittie747!

There is another stamper here, MariLynn who makes beautiful flowers out of coffee filters that she's dyed! Here's a card of hers: Garden Flowers

Thanks. I'll contact Miss Kittie. I live in a small city in Canada where we only have one small Michael's. I need to order from the US - sight unseen - so I would need to know the brand and weight of suitable paper for flower making.
Guess I should have said that in my first post....

Coffee filters make the best flowers! They can be colored, misted, fluffed up. It takes at least 4-6 layers. They are awesome when completed!

Katie, I use Stampin' Up! and Papertrey cardstock for my flowers and foliage and both are heavy cardstock. I don't wet my cardstock but I do distress and shape it using a stylus and a rubber mat. Many people wet or mist the cardstock before working with it but I didn't find it helped me. I have several tutorials on my blog showing how I distress and ink different types of flowers if you want to check them out. Look at the top right side of my home page for tutorials here at Kittie Kraft

Thank you for your kind compliment on my flower projects. Please feel free to write me if you have other questions. Kittie
