I have found, at my local office supply store (a smaller mom&pop type of office supply store), the following papers and brand names;
* Wausau (green & white package), 65 and 80 lb cover stock
* Mohawk Via Vellum (red & white package), 80 lb cover stock
* Strathmore (has a lt blue cover with pinecones on it), 88 and 80 lb cover stock
* Neenah Paper (this package is goldenrod with brown and white writing), 80 lb cover stock
Basically anything cover stock and around 80 lbs. All of these papers come in a variety of colors too. They come in reams of 125 or 250 sheets. They average out to around 8-10 cents per sheet. Our local store also allows you to "try" 5 sheets for free and offers a 10% discount for frequent buyers.
Is the SU better than Bazzill? I havent bought cardstock in a long time as Bazzill was all the rage many years ago and well, ya know I stocked up (dont ever want to run out right?? ) I still really like but havent tried SU....
I really like the quality of SU Card stock. I am wondering what other card stock you have found to be of similar quality but a little cheaper.
Thanks,
Maria
Hi Maria! I am a huge fan of SU cs as well. I found similar quality but around the same price: Papertrey Ink & Gina K. 80# is great. For $6.95 though GinaK's 120# is amazing!
I like SU cardstock but I think Bazzill is its equal. Great quality and you can color match Bazzill to SU. Somewhere on Splitcoast site I have found a colormatch chart that someone had posted.
I'm sorry.. I'm lame and know I will be so embarrassed but what is "DP"? My mind keeps drifting to "dedicated paper" LOL!! Know it's not that.. thanks

Designer Paper.
I will have to say that I agree that Bazzill is about equal to SU. If I cant get my hands on SU asap I always fall back on my Bazzill.
There are other cardstock options, however I have found nothing comparable in quality for cheaper. Bazzill is almost double the cost per sheet at Archivers, and the Archiver's brand is a bit flimsier, and still costs 8 cents a sheet more. DCWV has a white core, which I don't like at all, but it's a bit closer in price...same with the Wal-mart paper packs...which might even be DCWV??

Gina K. Design's Pure Luxury is very much like SU! White Whisper (super smooth, feels almost identical), but holds up much better when used with Copic markers than other cs. That's the reason why I'm using Gina K's exclusively for Copic coloring. It also depends on what you'll be using it for (card base, coloring(markers water-based, alcohol-based), watercoloring, gamsol etc. and what you're particular about.

I have found the packs at Michael's/JoAnne/etc that have multiple colors are not true cardstock - at least compated to SU - I'm a true convert to the SU paper! All things are definitely NOT created equal!!
I'm a Bazzill girl! Love their CS! I have a couple of DCWV stacks and have decided that I'm not crazy about them. At some point I'd like to try the SU CS, have heard wonderful things about it.
Oh that's right! Bazzill is yummy too, and I like the DCWV brand except that they are DP and not plain cs.
Actually DCWV does make cardstock - I have 3 or 4 stacks of it. I love the textured cardstock that DCWV makes. I also love bazzil cardstock and have been using it for a few years. I find it comparable to SU cardstock and a little chearper - at least where I buy at a lss. I've just started using SU cardstock and its nice too.

I've always called it patterned paper myself. I believe Designer Paper is what SU calls theirs.
Davesgram, I've never used this brand but looking at the description it says 65 lb card stock and I wouldn't want that. I love 110 lb card stock and it's almost the same weight at SU I think but SU colors are better. I buy the Georgia Pacific brand 110 lb weight in white that I buy at Walmart in the computer paper aisle or paper aisle. Anyway I also found the same brand in assorted colors at a Big Lots store and love it. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 110 lb cardstock. I love the colors of SU the best so far. K and Company designer paper comes pretty close. I buy this at Hobby Lobby or AC Moore or Michaels stores. Hope this helps.
Another lady was asking what the initials DP stand for in a post and I think that is "designer paper".

Beckaroni,
It helps Immensely! Thanks so much, and you remind me that I could have compared the weight to get an idea of what I would be getting. Thanks so much. I love paper and am always looking for a source. Thanks for the Big Lots idea too...will check mine out.

SU is 80lb cardstock, Bazzil is 80lb also, and I couldn't find any information about what card weight DCWV is. SU feels "stiffer" because they use a lot of ink to make the cardstock's vibrant colours.
My favorite cardstocks are Papertrey Ink and Prism. Prism is much lighter weight so for cards with lots of embellishments, the inside needs to be lined also for it to stand up well.
I use Staples house brand 110lb white cardstock. It is a very bright white, good surface, very sturdy and works great. It costs $14.95 for 250 sheets so it beats the heck out of SU and all the others.
I love SU the most but I just can't justify spending that much for cardstock right now. I bought some Georgia Pacific at Walmart for less than $6 for 150 sheets. It's not quite as good but it works just fine.
I buy a lot of the GP 110 cardstock in the 250 count packages at Sams. It is only $6.86 for 250 sheets! I normally buy 4 reams at a time then go next door to Office Max or Office Depot (depends which Sams I hit) and have them cut it in half for me for $1.00 per ream. I use soooo much for all the soldier cards and others that I supply that I have to do this to save $$$, time and the wear and tear on my cutter. I have been very happy with the quality of the GP for my cards. Blessings.
