Default Best adhesive for metal cans?

I'm looking for a good adhesive that I can use to adhere paper to metal cans with. I'd like it to be re-positionable since I don't always get it right the first time. I'd also like one with staying power.
Thank you!
Sandy

I like tombow mono glue- you only need a little and you have time to play before it sets, but it holds great! I hear your pain, for the mess ups I had with sticky strip or any double sided tape.

I am making one now, I like the red line tape but am out. The xyron is way too sticky but I used it.

Ribbon is a great cover-up!

Elmers makes a spray on adhesive that is repositionable for awhile but once it's dry (an hour or so) it's permanent. I've never used it on metal but I bet it would work pretty well and it's only 4 or 5 dollars for a small can.

Now here's a question for you - what exactly are you making? Inquiring minds wanna' know! ;)

Tombow makes a glue that's specifically for adhering metal to paper. It gives you a small window to reposition if it's not quite lined up on the first try, and once it dries the stuff stays put for good! It comes in a gray bottle that's shaped the same as the green and white one that Mono Multi glue comes in, and I've purchased it from Mike's. I'm guessing you could find it at most of the big-box craft stores, though, and not just that one.

I've done several of the altered paint cans and have used either Sticky Strip or Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the cans.

a word of advice....if you use sticky strip, do not attempt to modge-podge over it (because it will bubble, and then you will be kicking yourself for ruining all that pretty paper---true story). If you plan on coating over it, use all modge podge.....if its just a quick gift wrap then i'd just use the red sticky strip stuff (probably has a real name, but i can't recall it).

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
