Skotch double sided tape has been the tape of choice for several years, Mostly because it's what my SU demo/teacher recommends. However, I've used Tombo, and Ad tech and liked them both. Some have said that the palm held tape runners are fine for scrapbooking and lighter weight papers but that cardsock layers will come apart after a while. I've not experienced the fall apart syndrome.
Oky, now I admit to being a dummy. What is the ATG gun and where do you buy it?
I also don't like the bulk of the ATG. Likewise, I don't find that Tombow sticks all that well where I live. For dry adhesive, i like my kokuyo Dot n'roller and for wet, I like Zip dry.
I love my ATG 714. It's really not as bulky as it first appears. I always put mine back in my MM spinner so it's never in the way.
I don't like "wet" glues as I always seem to get too much on the project and it oozes out all over everything. I guess I'm just challenged with liquid glues LOL~
I have an entire drawer full of adhesives that I have tried.
Tombo Mono for me! I try to have the refills on hand at all times. I am absolutely in love with them after scrapbooking/card making for years. I stock up on them at Joanns when they are on sale or use the coupons to buy them for about $2 (half price) Try one! I think you'll like them!
one more vote for the ATG! I love mine, best investment ever. For altered projects or making stuff like boxes and such where I need a wet glue, I vote for Tombow or Zip Dry, both are awsome.
I also love my ATG gun! I went through 3 rolls of tape doing my Christmas cards. That cost me $4.50. If I'd used snail it would have cost me $37! Huge savings!
I love the Thermo-o-web Memory Runner XL. It's small and very easy to refill. A friend of mine uses the permanent runners from Oriental Trading and they work very well too. I'm thinking of converting to those when I run out of refils for the Memory Runner XL. I'm not a glue stick fan at all... and don't really like to use liquid glue unless I'm doing something with glitter.
ATG here also. Very short learning curve, very economical. And for card making, I prefer the regular over the gold (it holds better). I plop the handle of my ATG in a pint jar on my work area, so it's never in the way.

Do you think the ATG gun has the "staying power" of the Tombow Mono Multi green and white bottle??? I use the Tombow Mono Multi now...but hate getting it all over my fingers... ugh. AND... if you accidentally put to much on something and it squeezes out from under... you are left with this shiny spot, if you don't rub it off with your fingers and then.. more gunk on your hands! I'm gonna buy an ATG I think, but which one??? I think I want the 1/4" size but where do I find it??

I have torn many pieces of cardstock trying to reposition something that I had used my ATG on. It sticks pretty much instantaneously and forever IMHO. LOL~
3M is/was having issues with the 714 (red 1/4" dispenser) so you might have trouble finding one right now. Many have been recalled. Try www.framingsupplies.com or www. cropandstick.com Both get great reviews.
Good luck. I too hate liquid glues. Mine always oozes out everywhere.
Long story short, I'm in a class-----and our final project is a small book, bound book which as to be LASERPRINTED on laserprint paper, (i.e., not nice cardstock.) Basically, just normal copier paper.
I have to glue my pages together to make double sided pages. YUCK. We all know what happens when you glue two pieces of paper together - it gets lumpy and bumpy. But there's no way I can have it printed double sided due to it needing to be perfectly registered on both sides. I have to do the tedious paste-up to all the pages, 25 in all (no biggie really!)
I wondered if any of you had any tricks up your sleeve on this? I may resort to spray mount. It never gives me a problem, other than it's messy.
Would love to hear any tips you had.
Thank you SO MUCH!
Laura

I got mine at cropandstick.com and I must say that their service is outstanding.
For those worried about the bulk of it it isn't something that I've noticed at all .. yes it is big but it's not heavy. I only have a small desk to work on so it can be bulky in that respect but it isn't in the hand.
i don't like the SU runner, it doesn't seem to stick so well and I've never tried the 'wet' adhesives as I think I'd bugger a lot of stuff up with those!
The other one I do use is a local brand, Francheville, and their double sided tape which is really strong but I don't use it so much lately.
I am a huge fan of Mono Multi in the green bottle, but this week needing it and not finding it anywhere in stores - Walmart, Joann's, Michaels, AC Moore and Target --- I finally got Scoth Quick Dry adhesive and I am thrilled with it. I did a test drive with that and Elmer's zCraft Bond. While they both worked well when they dried, the Elmer's showed through paper, but the Scotch did not, and in fact the Scotch worked just like the Mono Multi and even looked like it. So I am thrilled to have found a replacement. It was 6.49 for a bottle, but it was a 4 oz bottle versus paying I think 4.00 or so for the 1.69 oz Mono Multi so I guess the Scotch is a bit of a bargain.
When I don't use liquid glue, I use Scotch double sided tape.
I love, love mono multi, the green bottle, very inexpensive and goes a very long way. You use only a very little and it gives you a little time to reposition before it's stuck for good. I use to use the mono tape until I was finding all my cards falling apart that I was selling. darc
ditto. The tombow mono tape is awful. I was going through some cards I made a few months ago and they were all falling apart. But the mono multi ROCKS.

I alos have used a Therm-o-web ---- but can't find refills for it in the Denver metro area. I've tried Joannes, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, &Wal Mart. Any suggestions?
You can buy the Stampin'Up SNAIL adhesive at Business Depot (Canada)for $3.99 (refill). The only difference is that the SNAIL shell is blue instead of black.
It is a Tombow (sp?) product.

I hope this isn't too late to give you some ideas. If I were going to do this for one of my classes, I would use a heavy CS as a base for each page, then use ATG (or adtech tape runner from WM if you don't have an ATG gun) to tape the pages on either side of the base. You could use a colored CS, then cut the pages a bit smaller, in order to make it look matted. Put it all together with a bind-it-all at your LSS, or at a copy center on a college campus or Kinkos, Office Max, etc...
As you said, I would NEVER use liquid glue--- you will be so unhappy with the end product!
Let me know if this wasn't clear... Good Luck!
Okay, so weighing in on the other issue (OP). Said in a deep voice: Bulky? That's how you know your a real cardmaker/scrapper... it's the ATG gun that separates the men from the boys...
Seriously, I love my ATG gun, even its size. I do have to resort back to my adtech tape runner for little tiny things once in a while, though. Now an adtech refill will last me months of daily cardmaking, though. You can't beat the price of the ATG tape, either. I use the regular 1/4 inch, and I think I paid 2.13 or so per 36 yd roll. Every time I pick up my gun, a little part of me does a little happy dance.
