You can get just the screwtops (nozzle and cap w/needle that fits into nozzle to keep it open) from Dick Blick. The caps replace the one on a Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Glue bottle, as well as other brands of glue.

WOW!! I Must try this! When she said Zip Dry my ears perked up....that's what I use all the time and I have to remove glue plugs from the small tip all the time. Thanks for sharing this.
I saw Vic's post on another thread. Darted to Target to get nipples. Then procrastinated until yesterday😄 Put one on my Glossy Accents, the top down to a nub. It really works!! What a great discovery, brilliant!
I have thrown away so many bottles of Glossy Accents that are 3/4 full because I can't use the tips anymore. The last bottle I ordered had blown its seal and leaked out into the cap. What a mess! Thankfully it didn't get out of the cap into the box.
I have a couple of types of glue that I think this would work great for - but I'm not touching the tip on my Zip Dry. I never have a problem clearing out the dried up stuff, and it makes such a satisfying "pop" as it lets loose . . .
Okay, even though I love the Fineline bottles with their needles that go through the tip, I'm going to try this. I just looked around my craftroom and there are many more bottles, of all different sizes, that would be turned from irritating to awesome by replacing the cruddy cap with a silicone nipple.
It may be a "tip" and not a "tool", but this is right up there with the MISTI as far as great ideas of 2014.

I found 3 bottle nipples for $1.74 at Walmart. I got 3+ med flow and it comes out just like on the video. It's now on a shelf and I'll try it in a couple of days and report back.
I'm not sure if you would be able to re-use the nipple...I'm guessing you might be able to.
I took the nipple back off the zip dry. Glue dries in the nipple so even if you pull the plug out, you still have dried glue in the nipple. I wonder if she stored hers upside down? The only thing my test has worked on is the glossy accents.
I give up! My thumbs hurt from squeezing the bottles so hard. When you get the nipples on they are nearly airtight so it takes a lot of work to get the stuff down into the nipple. Just one of those ideas that sounded good but just didn't work out for me. Let me know if any of you have better success.

I did reuse my zip dry nipple because the glue dried in it and I just pulled it out.

I've only put a nipple on my Glossy Accents I use for glue only. Glossy Accents is much thinner than Zip Dry, I wonder if a larger hole in the nipple would work for Zip Dry, since it's thicker.
I tried mine on Diamond Glaze; went to use it today and it wouldn't come out. Nipple filled up so the Glaze was still good. I even tried poking a hole in the nipple and it still didn't come out. I think I'm going to stick with the pin technique.

The nipple on my Glossy Accents still works great. I let it sit 24-hours and still easy to squeeze, and comes out beautifully. Do you think it's the nipple size or brand. I'm using this brand from Target. I think some nipples have 3 small holes, not sure, this brand has one hole
Glossy accents is a bit thinner than the glues I tried it on. I think it will be fine for that. The glues like zip dry and beacons 3in 1 are much heavier and they dried in the nipple without going back down into the bottle. So I'll leave the nipple on the glossy accents and take them off the others.

I'm happy the one on your Glossy Accents is working. Thanks for letting me know the issue with thicker glue! I'm keeping the regular nozzle on my other bottles. Clearing the tip with air before capping, and using a pin when needed, has kept my nozzles intact, as well. I really like the nipple for applying and spreading it over a larger area. We'll see if I'm still liking it after it has sit for a week or two.😄
Very interesting! Everybody that's trying it, please keep posting results. I fight with adhesive bottles every day, and would love to find a solution!

It seemed like a great idea at first and it did work on them all at first. But with the zip dry, I left the little plug of glue like she suggests but not all the glue goes back down in the bottle. Its stays in the nipple and dries a bit, then you take the plug out and use it again and more glue stays in the nipple and dries. Then the nipple has to be pulled off and the dried glue removed. It does come out easily because of the silicone, but to me its more work. I'm trying now to just make sure my nozzles are clear when I'm done with them. Im donating the unopened pack of nipples to the local thrift store. Yes, I bought two packs before I even knew if it would worm! LOL. You'd think I'd learn by now! LOL
Has anyone tried when finished with gluing put bottle on the table and squeeze the remaining glue out of the tip then putting it away? It's worked for me.

I only put it on the table after squeezing the little plug at the top. If you clean out the tip, then air will get in and dry your glue out, wouldn't it? Which glue did you use?
Crystal Effects-After squeezing the glue out I replace the cap.

Crystal effects is similar to glossy accents, and glossy accents works OK with the nipple for me. Its the only one I left the nipple on. My problem came with the other glues I mentioned. I soooo wantednthis to work on those too! LOL
I want to give this a try, but have totally finished with using Zip Dry. My problem with that was not so much the glue drying in the tip, but the strings of glue that pulled off the glued piece and fell all over everything else. Think it might be a symptom of low humidity, as that's the complaint of many of my local stamping friends. I've thrown nearly full bottles of it away (kept giving it another chance), but no more!
After watching this video, I went out and bought 3 nipples. I tried it on Zip Dry, Scotch quick dry glue and Glossy Accents. It has been 3 days since I did it and they work beautifully! Not one clog! Love it!

What brand and size nipples did you buy? Maybe that's what makes the difference.
Someone mentioned storing the bottles upside down so the glue remains in the tip area. Would the small bead formed still allow the other glue in the tip to stay wet or would a larger amount dry and clog the tip on the inside of the hole. Did I ask that clearly? Has anyone tried leaving the bottle upside down maybe in a jar or old soup can? One of those old revolving spice racks might hold an assortment of bottles hmmmm? This novel idea for glue bottle tips may still be workable.
I didn't store mine upside down. I was thinking the whole point was to make my life easier! LOL Part of the zip dry drains back down in the bottle, but some remains in the nipple and dries. Then when you pull the plug and use again the same happens and more glue accumulates and dries. I am tickled pink for those of you who got this to work. I really wanted it to work for me too, but I'm not investing any more time or money. Especially since I've learned to clean the tips when you are done and they will be clear for the next time. Good luck all of you continiuing to work this out. I will keep monitoring this thread and maybe try again later if someone can get the kinks worked out for me.
As I read through, it seems like some non-nipple tips are getting mixed up with using the nipples. I still haven't had a chance to try the nipples on any glue. Our old cat got sick and had to be put down on Monday - that required cleaning a huge mess in the guest room!
I thought this was genius and was happy for the feedback about the thicker glue. I did think it might have to be stored upside down though after the nipple was applied...I am anxious to hear the results other people got!
Victoria in WA I feel for you in the loss of your fur baby. I had to have a relatively young one put to sleep because of a massive tumor in her lungs and other medical issues combined. I still miss her terribly, she was such a delight. We have a new kitten that is very precocious and a little high maintenance but has already worked her way into both our hearts. She has helped greatly with the healing process.
I just put nipples on 4 of my glue bottles (some of the larger openings only required one wrap of the foam tape) and I think the beauty of this system is that the bead of glue you let dry in the top prevents any air to reach the rest of the glue. So storing them right side up is ideal as the glue will flow back to the bottle and not stay in the nipple to dry out. I have only just done mine, so don't have long term experience to relay. I did have trouble keeping the little bead on top until it was dry; it kept going back into the bottle. I did two bottles of PPA, Diamond Glaze and Elmer's White Glue. If it works, I'll be buying more nipples.

Anxious to hear how it works for you. My experience with zip dry and beacons is that it did not flow back down into the bottle. Some dried in the nipple. I'd like to hear experiences of others who tried those glues I mentioned.
