Sorry! I just wanted to apologize for my last post. I didn't realize that product shares and bulk buys were not allowed on SCS.
I was not aware of this either. I did a group tape order a few months back and my post was allowed when I was gathering interested parties.
Update: I just checked the site posting rules and don't see anything in this regard. Could someone point me in the right direction in case I'm misunderstanding. Thanks!

Ah, I see. I wasn't on SCS back then. I suppose nobody put a stop to my post because I asked people to contact me off the list if interested. Or, maybe it just wasn't caught by the mods at the time.
Thanks for the clarification.

Here is the one you need to order. This is what I buy and I have both the red gun and the pink one. The two guns are really exactly the same except for the color and use the same refills.
Congratulate me - I bit the bullet, and purchased me a pink ATG!
I did have to ask my neighbours hubby to open the stupid cover for me - I could not do it at all - should it be that difficult to open?
I've had a little play with it - the glue doesn't come off the roll cleanly when I release the trigger - is there a learning curve with the gun?

I couldn't open mine either when I first bought it. My husband had to do it for me and he had a hard time too. Once you open it, it's easier every time you need to open it from then on.
My ATG gun is so very old.....it's yellow! I didn't get it through a craft store or anything...I think I bought it through work years ago. It was nice for projects where I needed a 1/2" of glue, but that often was too much for most of my projects.
So I finally indulged and bought the pink one this past weekend. Thanks for posting where to find the 1/4" rolls. I go through them like crazy!
I notice it has a 1/2" width rather than a 1/4" width, and the gun itself is smaller, but the smaller size is a plus as I don't have much storage room and do a lot of crafting on the go. Currently I use either the SU snail tape or the Scotch Dots Runner. I don't like tape that gets too gunked up, and have been very happy with both of these, but have found myself changing the refills out a lot lately with Christmas cards and wedding invitation stuff (which is only going to get worse - I'm doing 150 for my sister. ack!)
Thoughts on the Xyron model in comparison to ATG? Thanks!
ATG Tape from the Tape Depot: $26.99 for 12 rolls of 1/4"x 36 yards; each roll is $2.25...if each roll has 36 yards, that is 108 feet (because there are 3 feet in a yard).
The refills for the Xyron on Amazon are almost $10. That is a little more than 4x the price. I don't think it is worth it for an extra 1/4" of adhesive on the sides. JMHO. But I guess I don't ever have a need for that extra width! If I do, I just put a line of adhesive next to it.

Yup, no matter how you slice it, you can't beat the price of the tape from The Tape Depot :-)

Wow! That is a great deal! I just broke down the other day and bought one from Amazon for 19.53. Had free shipping if you ordered $25, and checked the free shipping box during checkout, so I ordered a xyron 150 refill while I was at it. They had it to me in ONE day! I couldn't believe it; sent it UPS. I didn't have any probs opening it, and watched the youtube video to load it. Tried it for a short bit, and I think I am really going to like it. I know I will like saving money on the tape. I noticed youtube also had some videos on how to fix rolls of tape that are rolled backwards from what they are supposed to be. Good to know! Thanks Bugga for all the links to TapeDepot, and thanks to everyone for all the info on the ATG. If I like it how I think I will, I am going to be very happy, and saving $!
It looks like the tape depot guy from Ebay is only selling in bulk now?? Anyone have another inexpensive source that sells in 12 package lots? I go through a ton of tape but honestly 144 will probably get gummy before I use them all. LOL
So I went to the tape depot website and found 4 tapes to choose from. I don't want the repositionable so that leaves me 3. Which one do I want for the Pink 1 x 3M Advanced Tape Glider Gun?
Thanks so much for the help.
BTW I also have the big bad yellow ATG that came out years ago and love that bad boy. I just needed something a little smaller and more manageable for more delicate projects.
Anyone else think TOMBO is a major rip off? I think vellum tape sticks better than TOMBO.
One more BTW ... I found the Pink 1 x 3M Advanced Tape Glider Gun for only $22 HERE. Much cheaper than Michaels or ACMoore.
You would want the ATG-7502 1/4 inch tape. The red ATG is the same as the pink one. They both only take 1/4 inch tape.

Check out Amazon for the Tape Glider gun also. Scroll down a bit to see it for $17.67:

I'm not sure if you're accessing The Tape Depot site directly or not but I thought I would mention the following. If I go to the website in Firefox, I can only see the case lots but if I go to the website on Internet Explorer, I can see the option for both "by the roll" and "by the case" and the appropriate dropdown list is there. In FF, the case drop down list is missing. There's something wrong with their html coding that isn't compatible between the two browsers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks all for all the wonderful help and suggestions. I'm going to order from his site since it looks like it's less expensive than his Ebay listings anyway.
Without you folks here I'd never know that the pink and red guns were the same or that they worked as well as my big bad yellow boy. Thanks again for all the info.
Update ... I placed an order at thetapedepot.com on 2/9 and received the order today.
Paypal stated the payment went to Alanson products and the box that arrived said it was from TapeJungle.com. I paid $29.35 with shipping for 12 rolls. Since the order was under $50 I had to pay shipping but no biggie. I double check the price of 2 rolls at Michaels and it was $9.99. When adding shipping into the cost, I ended up paying only a little more than $2.00 per roll. I'm completely satisfied
Christine, that's great! When I checked his Ebay listings I could only find listings for huge bulk orders. I'm glad he updated. I'll have to mark him as a favorite seller.
Lately I have seen the ATG at Hobby Lobby. I have looked at it each time I go in the store with my 40% coupon, but have not purchased it. I don't have room for the large gun. So I have decided to continue using what I have used for several years. I have been using a tape purchased at a stamping convention in Charlotte, NC. It is not in a gun. You use it just as it comes. It it extremely easy to tear. It has a paper covering the tape that you pull off after you put it on the cardstock. It is PK Glitz "Sticky Tape". It comes in 3 or 4widths. the 1/4" tape has 55yd on it and was $6.50. You might go to P K Glitz

I'm a number cruncher to make my dollar stretch as far as possible :-)
The ATG tape from The Tape Depot is 39 yards for roughly $2/roll (depending on how much you order) and that works out to 117 yards for $6 versus your 55 yards for $6.50. These are just rough numbers but even factoring in the price of the gun, it pays for itself pretty quickly. That being said, we're not comparing apples to apples because they're two totally different kind of tapes with different ways to apply it. People really need to crunch the numbers to determine what is truly a good deal based on their preferences. It may be that you prefer your style of tape and are comfortable with the higher price per yard as compared to the ATG style of tape.

Hi everyone. I broke down and bought me the pink ATG gun several months ago and love it. I found this forum since I was searching for information on buying refills and found out about The Tape Depot. Before I placed my first order, I sent them an email asking if the reverse wound listed on their site would fit the pink ATG and they replied yes. I wasn't comfortable with the "reverse wound" in the description but they said yes so I ordered 12 rolls. When I installed my first refill, I felt like an idiot because its obvious why the reverse wound is in the description. I sent them an email explaining I had bought all these rolls after they told me it would fit the pink ATG but have not received a reply. So now Ive got all these rolls I cant use.
But I still need refills. After reading some more of this forum, it sounds like the following will fit the pink ATG? Could someone please verify that this is correct? I appreciate in advance your help.

I'm not sure if this is the one you ended up with but it is the reverse wound that fits it. I use it all the time. I've come across where it looks like it is backwards and won't work but it does. I can't explain it here in proper detail but it works.

Here's a link to a post that might be describing the problem you had with your tape. Look at post #28 which was how I tried to explain what my tape was doing and how I fixed it. Apparently it happens with the Scotch brand on occasion as well. There's also another post somewhere in there of a YouTube video showing how to fix the problem but I forget which number it is. Hope this helps!

It really isn't that the tape is made wrong, just that in the process of loading, sometimes the sticky side adheres to the paper on the wrong side. I thought I had defective tape, too, when this happened to me. It's hard to explain how to remedy it, but I hope the video will help.
Basically, you need to have the tape so that the sticky side is on the outside of the roll.

Here's a link to the video that shows how to fix an ATG roll that is wound wrong. It's probably the one Leslie refrenced: How to fix your ATG Tape - YouTube

Hey everyone, I have the pink ATG and am LOVING it. I just removed my first used up roll of tape and put in a new one, and I got to thinking... is there a way to use that lovely long roll of 1/4" backing that is left over after you use all the tape up? It's already wound into a neat roll for you, and there's such a lot of it. If anyone thinks of a creative way to use it, let me know! I threw away the first one but it just seemed like there MUST be some creative thing I could have done with it. I thought of using it as white curling ribbon but it seemed a little plain. I also thought to use it as masking strips, since it has a waxy surface and would resist ink. But you'd be rather limited in what you could do with it. Suggestions?
