I have been almost a week with out any refills for my atg. All I have been albe to do is stamp and cut. the refills finally came today. I loaded it up and the tape is not feeding right. Once it comes off of the left side, it is supposed to wrap around the right side, and fill up. It is not doing this. Once I use it, the empty strip is feeding down through the middle of the two spools and going back to the left side, I have to stop every few seconds, open it up and wind the right side. This is driving me nuts. Does anyone know what is wrong???
grrrrr
Make sure you have the loose end feeding into the right wheel by going over it from the left, and the tape roll on the left should move clockwise when you run the tape. One thing I find helpful is while it's open, hold the button and wind the right wheel a few turns to get it started, then let go of the button to get it a little tighter. Then just close it and go.
One little thing, did you put the cover back on the right wheel after attaching the end? That keeps it in line when winding.
I hope this makes sense. Sorry for my lack of technical terms.
I had the same problem with my previous roll. My next one has been okay. I don't know why it happened either but it sounds like exactly what happened to me. So, I would like some more input too. Thanks.

Are you using the Tape Depot refills or the 3M ones?
If you're using the Tape Depot ones you might want to read this thread. I had a problem recently with my ATG and the wonderful ladies here helped me figure it out: ATG Experts- Help by KatarinaM at Splitcoaststampers
Thanks for ALL the help, I know I can always count on help here. I am going to try all of the suggestions. One thing I did discover, I has some small globs, don't know what else to call them, on my gun, inside and out. It has 2 phillips type screws that hold on the wheels. I am going to remove them and see if I can carefully clean off the lumps. There might be some glue globs underneath the wheels.
I did order 12 rolls of the tape, and this is the 2nd one I have tried both did the same thing.
I am trying to find my receipt that came in the packiage, I ordered it onliune, to see what brand or what it is, it does have the red plaid edge. I hate to think they are all going to be like this, I think I threw the receipt away yesterday morning after I got the mail, and the trash man has picked up the trash already. I will look at my online ordering.
Oh, before I forget, I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot, I went too the section on ATG questions and cannot find how to send a nes message. I can stamp with the best of them but trying to type in the right section is really confusing, I'm blonde.
Thanks so much for all the help, I will try them all and report back later.
Happy stamping today,
Karen
Since I first posted, I have watched numereous videos and I am now convinced I am loading it correctly. I have been making cards for days now, and I have gone through 4 or maybe 5 rolls of refill tape, the refills are 3M. No, I have not used that much tape, I have tried at least 4 or 5 rolls. Each roll does exactly the same thing, it does not wind properly, but the used taped goes down between the two spools. I finally got to the point, that every few swipes of the tape, I have to open it and wind it onto the right spool. I wonder now if I got a really bad batch of tape. BUT at least I have tape, I was without any stickum of any kind for almost a week. As a last resort, I am going to carefully take the spools off and clean them. I try to make sure I don't have globs of glue stuck all over, but maybe there is some hidden that I am not seeing, and it is causing it not to wind properly. Can someone refresh me again, where is a good place to get tape Scotch 3M at a good price. thanks so much

I am the one who had the same problem. I did end up cleaning up my gun and since then it's been okay. So, I'm still not sure if it was the tape or the gun. Otherwise, I've never had that bad a problem before. But, I'm only on the first tape since then. I'll keep an eye on this post. Thanks for anyone's input. (I agree, the video is what I always follow but I really had problems on the one tape---it was a batch of 12 that I ordered.)

I wanted to give an update on my winding problem. I used my atg all afternoon and this evening, until I finally ran out of tape. I had tried 5 rolls of the tape, only to change out 3 of them, and finally used 2 whole ones. Every few swipes of it, I had to open it and wind it. When it finally ran out, I decided to clean it really well. I carefully took off both wheels, using a phillips screw driver. Be careful if you do this, as there are washers on each screw and I spent about 10 minutes looking for one of them when it dropped on the floor. The screw in the left side is longer than the one on the right.
You would not belive the globs of glue stuck oner the wheels. I cleaned it all of, including the wheels with rubbing alchol and a cotton ball and then a paper towel. There was also several inches of wadded up paper from the original ed of the tape under the right wheel. I put it back together and put on one of the rolls I had tried before, and I had the same problem. However I started a new roll, and as of now, crossing my fingers, I am not having any trouble at all. I think one of the problems was that there was a glob of glue on the top side of the left wheel and it was preventing it from sitting flat so it was not rolling the right way. Here is hopes that the problem is now solved. I also have hopes that the 3 rolls I started to use, will also work now, I'll use them after I have exhausted the rest of my new rolls.
Ir you are having winding problems, it might helpt to clean it.
thanks for all the help and suggestions,
OH before I forget, I called my friend as I knew she got refills in a day ot two by UPS after ordering the, here is the site the prices are unbelievable low. It is only $2.85 per roll if you buy 12 or more. No pay pal, you have to use a credit card, but for the price I don't mind doing that.
