Default ATG gun glue not sticking?

Not sure what I am doing wrong. :

I am doing wedding favors and I used my ATG gun last night and I glued on strips of cardstock onto texture cardstock and when I went to add embellishments today, I found half of the strips not sticking and had to fix 1/2- 3/4 of the favors with red tacky tape.

One side was textured, but the other strip I glued onto the textured cardstock was flat. Some of the favors I did were glued tight as could be and couldn't be pulled apart.

I was using the permanent tape, not the general kind.

What am I doing wrong?

I've also had problems with the atg when using textured cardstock. It just can't seem to get enough "hold" to stick properly. I've learned to burnish/firmly rub over the pieces when I'm using textured paper. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.:( If it doesn't seem to be sticking well, I just use my Tombow Mono Multi instead of the glue gun.

I had this problem big time last year for some paper mugs I did for a craft show. Had about 30 or so made & the next day most of them were unstuck! One side of the paper was cuttlebug embossed & the other side plain. I had used atg on some & red liner tape on others. So I couldn't believe it when they came apart. So then I burnished them like crazy ( I thought). They came apart again! Ended up using a wet glue & that worked great. It was soooo frustrating!

Default ATG gun glue not sticking

It has to do something with my technique-I am new to the ATG gun. Some of the glue stuck very, very well and the others didn't. Not sure what I could have done wrong, since some stuck very well. Is it possible to go too fast using the gun? Any ideas? LOL

I love my ATG and it usually does not let me down. I don't think I ever learned a specific technique, which is one of the best things about it...it just works...but sometimes there is too much texture on a project. "The Best Glue Ever" is always in my scrap bag and it comes out for dimensional and very textured stuff. A little bit goes a long way, it dries very quickly, and it does not let go! It is made by ScraPerfect. The applicator tip allows for very precise application. Oh...and it is waaaaaay less expensive than the red line tape!!!! Good luck with the wedding favors!
