What is the best place to get this from? Alot of people recommended adding it to my Christmas Wish List as supplies that is good for a new stamper. Do they sell it at any stores in the US where you can use 40% or 50% off coupons on it (like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joann, etc)? Do stampers usually use the 1/4" ATG? Thanks.
I just ordered mine from 7kids college fund. I can't wait to get it. I don't know if the price is any lower than other places, but I have made a few purchases from this site and I have always had good service and quick delivery from them.
I got mine from here framingsupplies.com. I found the refills to be the cheapest there. I always get the gold because it's acid free, so its safe for scrapbooking. Good luck I know you will LOVE it!
Okay, really stupid question here. What is an ATG gun? I've seen mentioned in many posts and even threads, but I don't know what it is! I'm thinking adhesive?

I "googled" for the best price and ended up getting mine online at "apakinc". Its a packaging, paper and janatorial supply store! Service and price were excellent. It was listed under the "3M" section on the webpage.
By the way, I absolutely love my ATG gun! I scrap and make cards and I use the 1/2 inch. Either size would be fine. Get the "gold" adhesive if acid free is a concern. Just remember, it is a permanent adhesive...no moving stuff around once its down - it really sticks! You'll still want to keep some repositionable adhesive around as well. Hope that helps.
P.S. framingsupplies has a very useful link to a video that shows you how to load and use the gun. Invaluable for the mechanically challenged.

Yep...adhesive. Actually the ATG stands for Adhesive Transfer Gun.

I recently purchased one at cropandstick.com . They had excellent prices and service! I had it within 5 days of the order!
BTW, I was a little wary that it might be clumsy or difficult to use but it is easy-peasy, simple as pie. I LOVE IT!

I took the plunge, I am purchasing mine from crop and stick as well. I'm sure I'll still use mono when I travel, but one of my fellow sbs swappers, it was pretty neat how it works and how well it works. I'll do a follow up commentary when I receive it!
I am ready to take the plunge...but don't know which one to get...Please help me decide.
I am a hobby card maker, not a SU demonstrator...but am highly addicted! What are the pros and cons for each of the guns...would I need to apply 2 lines of the 1/4" tape to get my card fronts to stick? I'm sooo confused..but wanting one:confused:
i have the atg714 (1/4 inch) gun and i like it a lot i got mine at framingsupplies.com and i have also since had to recorder more tape this time i bought in quantity to get the discount and have been very happy with my ATG714 i'm not sure i'd want the 1/2 inch i like the smaller tape becuasei think i have more versatility with it and can use the tape on the smaller pieces. but i'm sure it just comes down to preference. but i like it because i am do some many card and projects without changing tape dispensers etc...

My card fronts stick with just a single line of tape from my ATG and I use the acid free because I scrapbook with it too. If I were only making cards I would use the non acid free as it seems to have slightly more stick HTH

I bought my tape on Ebay.Check out Ebay seller lorri-3mkeepers.Great prices, she also sells the guns, has very reasonable and fast shipping. I buy all my tape from her.My favorite is the 987 3M ATG Scotch double sided tape 1/4 x 60 yards.
I came up with a great stand for my ATG gun. I filled an old
"International Coffees" coffee tin by Greneral Foods, up with pennies to give it weight. I put that on a thin non-skid shelf liner that you can buy at the dollor store. Turn it widthwise and place your gun on it on an angle. It works like a glue gun holder, and has your gun always ready to go! Plus it frees up table space.
And works like a charm. Not to mention very cheap.

I highly suggest you get it. I suggest you start with 1/4" because you can always double it if you need 1/2", right?
Meanwhile I love it so much that I bought the second one and I keep one loaded with acid free tape and the other with regular tape for making cards since it is cheaper tape. It is by far the most reasonable way to buy adhesive.
I always check apack.com and framingsuppy.com sites to see who has the better deal. I shop around for prices and found these 2 to be most reasonable.
Good luck and enjoy, Rosie
Ok Ladies! I just got an awesome deal! Cropandstick.com has a great special going where you order the ATG 714 for 41.60 you get 3 free rolls of 3M gold adhesive FREE! Standard shipping is $9.24 so total would be $50.84
I personally talked with Gina one of the owners on the phone several times durring the holiday rush! She was SOOO NICE!!! I needed my ATG to finish projects and she advised me on delivery options. All went extremely well and I love to help out family owned places rather than big box stores!
So please check them out when shopping for an ATG they are awesome to buy from, great prices, FREE TAPE!!, and have a lot of other goodies like brads and other embelishiments for $1.00!!!! AMAZING!!!
I also just want to note that I am in love with my ATG 714 (red one) I immediately had no problems adjusting. In fact it works better for me since I have severe carpal tunnel and keep putting off surgery! It is super light weight, easy to load, easy to use and guide along the edge of the paper. BIGGEST reason to even consider this... SAVE MONEY AND BUY MORE SCRAPBOOKING GOODIES!!!!
I ordered mine from framingsupplies on Sunday with 12 rolls of tape, should last me, like forever (I hope). I got an email saying I will have it this Friday.
I can't wait!
I can't believe the tape I went through just making Christmas cards! That is why I decided to take the plunge to get the ATG.

You will be surprised on how quick those 12 rolls of tape will go. I purchased mine with that many rolls and could not believe how quickly it went. ;)
Guess this isn't quite a quick reply, but wanted to thank you for your input....I asked for and got a 714 ATG....I'm in LOVE!!!! You are absolutely right about the 1/4" size being perfect...and the holding power of the gold tape is more than I anticipated! Did all my Christmas Thank You cards and my New Year cards...can't wait to get started on my Valentines!!! Also, thanks for the lead to framingsupplies.com....they had the best price, two free rolls of tape, and speedy delivery (according to Santa) Thanks again!
Crop and Stick still has the 3 free rolls with the purchase of the ATG 714. Here is the link if anyone needs it. I think that I am going to take the plunge with this as well. I have been going through so much adhesive and it is getting pretty costly. Thank you for all of the info on this thread.
