Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like Glittered/Flocked/Shiny Designer Paper?
I love the DCWV paper stacks and I own many. But lately, when I see that they come out with new ones at least half the paper in the stacks has either glitter or flocking or some kind of shiny details. I don't like these things so I don't buy that paper. I'm guessing though that this must be popular or they wouldn't keep producing it. Am I the only one out there who doesn't like glitter/flocked/shiny paper?
When I see it in the store, I'm not lovin' it either. I have seen some nice cards with it though.
I have one paper pack from SEI called Mimosa that is really elegant and has some subtle glitter and smooth shimmer to it. But I don't like the DCWV ones either.
I don't buy the stacks for that reason, also. Some of the more subtle glittery/flocked papers are nice but some are just too much for me. I would rather purchase that type of paper by the sheet. So you aren't the only one!
Not a fan of flocking (I'd never even seen or heard of flocked paper till I hosted my first demo swap a few months ago for samples of all the "approved" materials that can be cut using the Big Shot), but I don't mind a little shine or a *touch* of glitter.

Not a glitter/flock/shiny fan. Probably the only time I use glitter is at a stamp class and then it gets all over me and then the house. And flocking is just a NO!

I don't like Die Cuts With a View paper at all due to the white core. Terrible for cards (in my opinion).
I do like to put flocking on some of my cards for a texture look, though. I use the product that can be purchased separately.
I wouldn't purchase any glitter, flocked or shiny paper since I would never want to put it in my Cricut or Expression. Not a good thing for those particles to get into the machine. Could cause damage.
You are not alone. I tend to have problems with the flocking shedding if I don't cut it properly. So, really, it may be purely "operator error" which is causing my apathy.
My only complaint is the glittered designer papers are usually smelly
I must look like a loon sniffing the paper stacks  but I really hate the stinky papers (even though I LOVE glitter, 'cause a girl needs bling!!!)
toodlesyall....I would doubt the flocking flaking off would be due to the way you are cutting it. I find any cutting through an area of flocking will have some fibers come off. This is why I don't use that kind of paper in my Cricut or Expression. I put the flocking on myself after I cut an image. I don't use glitter at all on anything, so I don't have to worry about that, but wouldn't put that through the machine either.
I don't really care for any of it but my 16 yr old DD does, so when I buy a stack and it's in there she gets it and actually uses it on her LO's and cards for her friends. LOL, it keeps her out of my paper stash and glitter so I continue to buy the stacks.

I think that is the beauty of crafting...everyone can craft their own style and it is all great! My BFF and I went to a stamping convention this weekend and that is what I was struck me most...variety. There was one booth that was really focused on glitter (using a glue pad which I now must have) and their samples were beautiful and so me! Then we went to another booth and all their samples were matte earthy colors and a much more country feel to them. They were beautiful in a very different way, and so not my style! I think glitter makes every card better, but I respect the fact that some crafters don't like it.

When I discovered their Glitter Mat Stacks I fell in love! I don't use them for cards, but I've been making tons of the post-it notes holders and they are so cute for them...they're thicker and really help the structure. I give them out as neighbor birthday gifts...and have made them for the little girls in my Sunday School class (and of course they went nuts over the glitter).

I'm not a fan either - I swear I'll never buy another DCWV stack as I just don't use them. I find the colors are funky and don't ever match the cardstock I have on hand as well as the glitter & flocking is just not my style. I'm going to stick to buying paper by the sheet.

This just made me giggle!
Some of it I like . . . and some of it I don't. How's that for sitting on the fence? LOL
I think I like it, buy it and then don't use it.
Soooo...I must not reaaly like it for projects, maybe I should just put it in a picture frame. Pretty to look at, LOL!!
