I own an Accucut Mark IV (and a Big Shot). I would love to know if the Grand Nestabilities, embossing folders and wafer-thin dies can be used somehow in the Mark IV (and how). This could save me from purchasing the Big Shot Pro I hope.
Thanks for any help.
Hi Terri,
At this time AccuCut does not have a shim that will work with the wafer thin dies or the spellbinder dies. I am unsure if Sizzix has one for the Big Shot Pro out yet either. I hope this answers your question.
I own the same machine. Because the AccuCut trays can sometimes warp with a lot of usage, what I've found is that I can pretty much cut with it using any type of die by creating my own shims. I do that by layering used cardstock on the tray. Just keep layering cardstock or even shims from other companies until you get the cut (or emboss) that you want. I've used embossing folders w/my AccuCut w/no problem. I've never used any Nestabilities, but have used the thin Sizzix dies. You're not going to harm your machine or the dies/folders. To make a cut (or emboss pattern) you're merely just pressing things together. It's really all about how much pressure between the roller and a die.
The only thing that has been totally useless is the Fiskars embossing plates. But I'm convinced those things are useless no matter what.
Before Accucut came out with the adapter for Sizzix dies, I used to use plastic (poly?) cutting boards that are about 1/4 inch thick for shims. I know have the Accucut shim for the sixxix dies. It fills the whole tray. I then add other shims until I get what I need for thickness. You can use the Accucut cutting plastic (that is ised for the GrandeMark - what I have) as shims and it won't crack.

This is brilliant! I wouldn't have thought of this! I have a large cutting board that I bought to match my counters but it is too big to fit in the dishwasher so I don't use it. I am going to try your shim idea!
Barbara - I have also used wood for shims as well as the lexan acrylic that you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's. Make sure you get Lexan and not just plain acrylic - the plain one will crack from the pressure.
Since this post has there been the ability to use two adapter trays. The kind that are used for bigz dies?

Since the adapter tray works well with bigz dies would two adapter trays be workable fir the desired sandwich. I don't have two adapter trays to try it out
Acccut Craft came out with their own wafer thin die adapter sandwich and embossing folder sandwich. It uses one cutting plate, but I wish it was 2. I also wish it made better use of the size of my tray. It works very well though!
