I haven't been making cards much, my crafting has veered off in a different direction, but had the need for two birthday cards recently and found myself drawn to working in a square format. I only had standard cardstock, so I ended up with cards that were smaller than the full 6 inches, which is what I would have preferred. It was so nice to work in that format that I decided to lay in some cardstock for true 6X6 cards. I found some from Cardstock Warehouse online and got it in two nice variations of Kraft, but it was 100 lb Cover so a bit thinner than I like, which is 110 lbs. I spent a lot of time searching, and found some nice 110 lb from Darice and some really nice 120 lb "double thick" from Bazzill but both were only available in white.
I know most people use 12x12 for scrapbooking, so they don't want extremely heavy cardstock, but I also know people are making 6x6 cards. Where can I find heavyweight cardstock in colors? I would think Bazzill would offer that double thick in colors but can't seem to find it.

Stampin' Up! has 12 x 12 cardstock. I don't know right off what weight it is, but it is not flimsy. I use it for most of my cards. If it has rather flat embellishments, I mail them in CD bubble mailers that are 7-1/4 x 7-1/4. If I have used large flowers that are rather "stiff", I use white 7-3/8 x 7-3/8 literature mailers (boxes). They do cost a bit more to mail, but I know that the cards will get to the destinations undamaged.
Good question! I recently have gotten some square dies and it would not hurt to be able to use 6 x 6 stamps and not cut them down to A2. Subbing. I have to check on something...will be back.
JoAnn Stores has started carrying its own in-house brand called ParkLane. Under that brand name, they carry packages of a fairly heavy-weight 110 lb paper in both 8.5x11 and 12x12 sizes.
I find 100 lb a bit too light for a card base. I'll have to look at JoAnns online.
NOTE: Just looked online at JoAnns and didn't see 12x12 in colors that specified 110 lbs. I also checked the Papermillstore and I don't see 12 x12 110 lb there in colors. I need a link...

I found the My Colors heavyweight JoAnn paper and it was listed as 1600 ounce weight which is equivalent to 100 lb.
Think I might be looking for the proverbial white whale. (But in color!)

Ive been wondering the same thing, thank you for asking!
For now, Ive been piecing mine together from 8-1/2 x 11 (see video below) but my second piece is cut to the card size and adhered to the back of the flap so that the seam is more hidden inside the card under the layer where you write your message. It works well, but I dont like making so many scraps...
Adriana, if 12x12 white is what you want, you can get the Darice 110 lb or the 120 lb. I got both on Amazon. That is a clever way to do a 5X7 if you want a top fold! I have always just done a side-fold 5x7, so I could use a single piece of cardstock.

Check Michaels Recollections Heavyweight card stock - I use their letter size but if they have 12x12, it's stiff and thick, won't even go through my printer.
