I just bought a sizzix machine for $7 on clearance at Michael's. I do not own any dies and not even sure I want it. But I figure I can return it or sell it.
I looked at the dies they had (some alphabets for $19 - originally $150) and nothing really struck me as had to have.
Tell me why you love your sizzix, what you use it for and did I get a bargain or they are everywhere for that price?
PS I have been drooling over nestabilities, will they work with the regular sizzix or the cuttlebug would be better?
Is it the sidekick or the older machine with the arm that you pull down? I have both and don't use either often. I got them for scrapbooking and for use in my classroom. I'm more of a cardmaker now than a scrapbooker and I have bitten the bullet and bought the larger already cut out alphabet from the teacher supply store.
I do LIKE my machines, but just don't use them often. Just FYI, I like the sidekick better than the larger/older one. HTH:-D

You can use all the Cuttlebug folder, dies etc with your sixxiz machine. You will jsut need the convertor which is probably on clearance at Mikes right now for like $2
It's the older one, not the sidekick. And I have yet to open the box because I am not sure it is worth it. Kinda finny since I will drop $25 in a heartbeat for a stamp set and be just fine but a million second thoughts on this. I guess since it takes so much room and weighs a ton too.
I have both the larger machine and the sidekick and I love them both and use them often. I have quickutz too and yet I use the sizzix more. It does take up some space, but, I can cut chipboard, cork, foam and multiple sheets of paper at one time. I use the cutouts on both cards and scrapbook pages. I like the older machine more than the new one that you have to roll the "sandwich" of stuff through the machine, just pulling the lever is SO much easier on the arms and it doesn't need to be suctioned to the table. I am very glad I have it even though it's now techically obsolete. Nothing ever gets stuck in the machine like the ones you have to roll through.
I have the old machine with the pull down arm and it works fine. The only thing you can't use with it is the wider dies like fiskars texture plates or the new Sizzix wide dies. Everything else--including cuttlebug embossing folders and dies--works great. You got a great deal for $7!!!
I speak the truth not so much as I would, but as much as I dare, .......and I dare a little more as I grow older. -Michel de Montaigne, essayist (1533-1592)
Wow - what a deal. I gave mine to a friend who is just getting started in stamping and bought the Bigkick. However, there are so many things you can do with that red musclewoman! Remember when putting the bigger dies through to do it three times - slide it just in and cut, slide it in 1/3 cut and then cut the rest of it. Works great! The only drawback is that you can't use the wider dies and texture plates as mentioned above. I'm spoiled now with my new one. Oh, and if you sign up on Sizzix for the Tues teasers, you will have a wonderful surprise. At the end of their year, they start selling EVERYTHING with bigtime savings. I got several wonderful dies and embossing folders for less than $2 a piece. Enjoy your wonderful find!

I am SOOOOOOOOO jealous! I need a quick fix right now! (I heard addits have those...lol) Now I may just have to drive 60 min. in order to get this stuff! Thanks for the heads up Jody!
I just bought the Bounce Sizzlit alphabet at Michael's It's pretty cute. It was marked at $19 which I thought was a pretty good deal. Then when I gave them my coupon (which I was using on a less expensive item), it took the 40% off of the alphabet! So I got the alphabet for $11! Now I'm off to figure out the sandwich stack for my Cuttlebug!
Sounds like you got a good deal. I use mine for embellishments for cards, for alphabets for scrapbooking (although you could make some sentiments for cards too), for embossing bg for cards. Everyone is saying the nestabilities dies will work with the sizzix (and I believe them) but I don't have any yet so I can't say I've tried it.
If you go to sizzix.com they have some great sales on stuff they're phasing out (but I don't think any the of the alphabets were $19). Just be careful what you order from sizzix because the new big kick/big shot dies are too large for the original sizzix and they are sometimes mixed in with the sizzix/sizzlet dies in the clearange area.
My local Michaels must not be running that sale because I was there last night and there were no sizzix machines/dies on sale.

They were not marked at the price they sold for. I had to ask where they were because they were hidden in a cage at the front of the store. For example, the brad bars I got were marked at 49.99 and rang up for $9. The regular price was $99.
The large alphabet sets that were normally $150, rang up for $19. The matching numbers and punctuation for the die set were $7 each. The machine was $7. There was also a boxed set that came with the machine, a $150 die set and a converter, but that was $99. I didn't get the boxed set though. They are marked down at around 90% off. YAYAYAYAY
Did I mention I have a Sizzix high? LOL
Did I also mention I already HAVE a Sizzix machine. LOL I nabbed them for pals. LOL The alphas are for me though. I figured the kids would enjoy playing with them.
I bought the alphabars on clearance at Michaels for $9. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not but you can't beat $9 for an entire alphabet set!!
I used it on a promise book I made for a friend and I really like it!

I found the alphabars in the clearance aisle in back of the store. There were a lot of misc. items there. It was not anywhere near the scrapbook stuff where the sizzix are normally kept. So you may have to do some hunting.
I did not see alphabars but maybe that's because I did not know what they are. Can you explain? I still have the sizzix in the car, with the receipt and no dies. Man, what is wrong with me?

At my Ms, they were in a cage thing locked up at the front end of the store near the office.

I tried to take a picture for you but my camera is out of battery :( . So I'll give post a link instead:
You may also want to look at creativexpress.com. They are clearing out all of their sizzix stuff and and not going to carry it anymore after sometime in September I think. Some of the things are 75 - 90% off of the original prices.
Shoot, I should have checked on those last week when I got Martha stuff 90% off. All of the Sizzix was still ticketed too high for my blood. I ran out tonight after reading your post, and their clearance aisle is gone! All of the stuff locked up at the front of the store is full price, the stuff that had clearance stickers was gone.
You can use all the Cuttlebug folder, dies etc with your sixxiz machine. You will jsut need the convertor which is probably on clearance at Mikes right now for like $2
I would love to use my sizzix with Cuttlebug folders and dies. Do you happen to know what the name of the converter I would need to be is?
Congratulations on your amazing bargain! I have totally fallen in love with my original Sizzix machines since learning that the Cuttlebug stuff works in it! I use it all the time now!
Wow, what a deal. I bought one a few weeks back when I found it at $17 because I kept breaking B plates on my bug with the few sizzix dies I had and I figured that was cheaper than replacing my B plates over and over. I also bought the Doodlebug alphabars for around $17. So maybe I will ask at M's too. I am a little worried about finding a replacement for the cutting pad when the time comes though. Anyone seen those around lately?
I just came from my Michaels and bought a Alphabet set for $9 and the numbers for $5 in the Sizzix..I wish the thin die cut letters that are still for $49 would come down lower to about $25, then I'd buy it. I want to go back and get the
"equal, comma, question mark, period, and etc. they had it for $5 also. But I went to another Michaels and they werent marked down that much at all..I also ran into my Hobby Lobby store here in town and bought the Mouse stamps in the clearance section..I bought the mice with the Christmas bows, lights, writing, the sunflower, and the wording the reads
"Have a very mice day" all for $10...plus other stuff I didnt really need..

oh you girls are so lucky living over there! I only got the old sizzix a few months ago when my local craft shop was closing but even with 40% off it cost 50+ - that's like $100  And the accessories are so expensive, even the older ones. I was thinking of asking my son to bring me back a cuttlebug when he is in Texas next week, but now I know the embossing folders will work in my big ol' machine, I think I'll ask him to bring something else, plus it will save his weight limit! How heavy are the cuttlebug embossing folders? He will be heading for the nearest Michael's to where he is staying in Houston so I'm picking up ideas from you girls and making him a list :-D

WooHoo! I just got the same deal this morning...I have loved the bounce set for soooo long but did not want to pay the price...they had the set locked in the cage and only marked at $49 so I had them check it and it rang up $19 AND they let me use the coupon (which I am sure some do and some dont')...that is more than 90% off so if you see stuff in the clearance isle, have them check the price...I did see alpha bars at another M's yesterday but I already had the sets...yeah! Thanks for this post...I went out M's and got a GREAT deal because of it!
