I totally agree with judaca. I'm not wild about any of them. I don't like to do any of them! I don't like messy...and most of them are messy. I don't like time-consuming...and most of them are time-consuming. I don't like the way most of them look. I'd rather see our background paper being used in lieu of most of the techniques. I know....I'm wierd, I guess. I admire people that do them, though.

Ahem... I think you'll find that I am, in fact, the laziest stamper. I'm so lazy that I haven't even tried most of these techniques because:

a) I'm too lazy to leave this screen to go and buy the necessary equipment
b) I'm too lazy to try something that I might not love
c) I'm too lazy to clear up after the mess that a lot of these techniques make!

But, just for the record...

I love Pearlex in the right context (prefer the earthy tones to the blues, although haven't tried blue in an aquatic sense yet)

LOVE dry embossing, but get very bored doing it, so only stick to very simple designs

Don't like chalks because I don't like the feel of them on my fingers and it never looks like I want it to

As for stuff I haven't tried... not keen on the Serigraph look, simply because it's just not "me", and, I'm sorry bottle cap fans, but I just don't get the whole bottle cap thing.

For me, it has been stamping on dominos.

I see so many pretty creations made with dominos. So I went out and bought a BUNCH of them in different sizes. I stamped a few. They just did not look as pretty as the ones I've seen online.

Anybody wanna buy and dominos????

Considering the "art" is in the eye of the beholder, I am not into the "art/funky/weird" that is out there. That's what I like about SU! stuff.

Technique-wise, I like so many, just wish I could afford to and have the space for most of them. If you can't keep your stuff out, as is my case, I tend to forget some of the techs. that I don't do very often. When I do get a chance to spread out I get overwhelmed! I did have a shaving cream marathon when my mom came to visit and that was a blast!! I guess that smell doesn't bother me and kinda brought back memories of how my grandpa smelled (in a good way!)

To sound dorky, this is what I love about this sight. So many opinions, all given the proper respect, and also so many ideas. If I have problems with techniques or wonder what to do with all of this stuff I bought and now don't have a clue how to use it, well I just come to SCS and the info is usually there or start a "thread" and someone will guide you to the info that you need.

Fixin' to shut up now!!!

No, I think this title MUST belong to me. I'm so lazy that last night I sat on the floor of my stamp room to make a quick thank you card, because both of my tables were covered and I was to lazy to clean them off!

As far as techniques, I don't really care for rubber cement or rolling marbles. I love my pearlex, chalks and dry embossing!

masking tape. I don't like the masking tape technique. I just don't like the way it looks.

Love Pearl Ex!

Never tried the shaving cream - love the look but it looks like a hassle and I am one of the lazy ladies!

   Thanks for the laugh this morning! I saw this post right after surveying the mess that is supposed to be my stamping room, and thinking to myself "where do I even begin to clean this up?!" The price of having too much fun.

As far as techniques, I've never cared for rubber cement or wood grain backgrounds. Linda

I would have to say anything that takes a while to clean up after would be mine. Also I am not crazy about dry embossing, just to much effort to be used to obtain what you want. I even bought Fiskars Shape Boss thingy, and still not to thrilled about it.

brayering for me is probably my least favorite. I do use my brayer for a few techniques but that's it.

i even took a class last year at our local store on brayering and still didn't like it too much. I haven't even used my brayer in the last year except for the acrylic head to smoosh my layers together.

I love and hate pearl ex...i love the shimmery colors but can'e figure out how to really use it except for embossing brads for a huge swap a couple of years ago.

Personally, I love the way shaing cream backgrounds look, but mine always look like a train wreck!! LOL!! I've tried using less shaving cream, more shaving cream, less ink, more ink, letting them sit longer, etc. Nothing works and I just love the look of it. Oh well!

Embossing is another technique I'm not really into, be it dry or heat embossing. My mother is the embossing queen....lol!

It's no big secret

1: Mix a bit of Pearl Ex with clear embossing powder
2: Heat brad with a lighter (hold brad w/tweezers)
3: Dunk brad carefully into pile of mixture (not all the way..jut the brad part
4: Make sure coverage is good...you may have to run the brad over lighter flame to ensure even melting.

It may take a few tries to get a feel for it.

Makes great shimmery colors. You can do this with any embossing powder.

Default Masking Tape and Spinner Cards

I rarely ever post here on the boards. I'm just a SU customer, so a lot of this doesn't ever really apply to me, I guess. But when I saw this subject on the home page, I just had to click on the link and comment.

I know most of you will jump on me for this one but I HATE the "spinner" card craze that is now sweeping the stamping nation. For the most part, it's mostly because it's one of those "just because ya can" techniques and I see it on the most bizarre cards! WAYYY too much work for me.

And that masking tape stuff. It always LOOKS so cool, but OI, what a pain in the arse to do. Way too much effort for me! I'm with all you lazy stampers out there!

Ok...back into lurkdome...

Least favorite technique? One I haven't learned yet I'm a technique fanatic!

Pearlex is so beautiful, I can't understand how anyone would dislike it. A tip they gave at convention for the mess is to use a swifter dry floor mop thingy (gotta love the terminalogy), anyways, take one of those across your project and all the excess disappears and there's no mess

Shaving cream is easier if you stick to 1 or 2 colors only and use heavier c/s. The Walmart white c/s just isn't heavy enough to work properly. Also, those pampered chef brown scrappers work wonderfully for this technique. When you remove your c/s from the shaving cream use that scraper to make a swipe across your c/s, clean it off and make another swipe. Comes out beautifully. As for smell, get a different flavor...it doesn't have to smell bad.

Hope this helps someone out there. I also have a list of things to do with pearlex/how to use if anyone is interested.

Happy Stampin'

The shaving cream technique always comes out amazing for me on glossy paper. Maybe I'm preaching to the choir, but I see that some people are using regular cardstock. And about having trouble getting the shaving cream off your hands and paper, I just rinse the shaving cream off the glossy paper right under the faucet. Ink stays, cream goes...and so does the smell.

I do like the look of Shaving cream....but I too find it too messy and too time consuming. Maybe I do need to try it with Glossy...THANKS!

But I really am not a fan of the rubber cement or masking tape. I just do not like how they look.

Polished stone...ugh...I do a LOT of faux finishing on furniture and walls, and ink/paper doesn't begin to compare to paints and glazes. So, I've never taken to the look. Second "ugh" would have to be Poppin' Pastels...I love the look on some of the samples I see, but when I do it, it looks as if a small child has broken into my home.

P.S. LOVE that Pearl-Ex...a little goes a long way. Mix it with Future and paint with it...especially on the back of stamped acetate...LOVELY.

I lied when I said my least favorite was polished stone...it is now that stupid foam brayer and that stupid plaidmaker. Stupid ink everywhere. Stupid chapped hands from TRYING to wash off the stupid ink. STUPID!
There. I'm done. My least favorite is once again polished stone.

Sculpey clay on cards, or anywhere. I worked with that stuff all weekend and got nowhere with it. It just doesn't look as good as it does when other people do it.

I can relate to what Linda Watson is saying. Most of the spinner cards I had seen looked a little blah and the spinner part seemed illogical. The whole spinner card concept seemed prett pretty unappealing...until I made one!

I wanted to make a bowling party invitation for my son's 7th birthday. I used the spinner card technique to make a spinning bowling ball rolling across the card toward knocked down bowling pins. It turned out really cute.

My two favorite techniques lately seem to be tearing and crayon resist.

I would have to say my least favorite technique is using a wheel. Don't have one and have no desire to get one.

I love shaving cream. I think it is about technique, personal technique. Everyone seems to do it different.

I dont much care for brayering.

I have not done many techniques. I am still a stamping newbie. I think I started just this spring. One of my best friends is my SU consultant.

I like crayon resist though...FUN!!!

I haven't tried most of the techniques mentioned - but I have all the stuff to do some of them!

Right now I get frustraited with Dry Embossing. I want to Dry Emboss on dark colors and it's a pain! Don't tell me easier ways to do it - like rubbing the empresor tool over the paper until you get the outline of the image you are going to emboss, or about rubbing wax paper over the cardstock first so the embossing tool glides over the paper easier. By the time I'm done frustrating myself, I've dry embossed enough for half of a card and my hand looks like the "monkey's paw".

i have to say it depends on my mood - sometimes i like messy and detailed and multi stepped and sometimes direct to paper is all i can manage - i am glad there are resources out there for technique ideas - i second the post about patstamps.com - not all are my favorite but it is a cheap and very worhtwhile way to have a collection of techniques at my finger tips - the newsletters keep me up to date on what is new, what products are out there and what they are used for - i may not do them all but love having them available to me when i am in the mood - i also like being in the know about stamping - go to her site if you like techniques!

Replying to cardsbyanita If you go to www.joann.com and they have lots of different colors in the metallic pads. As for my non-favorite technique I haven't really found one yet. I have only been at it for 6 months or so.
