Default What happened to heat embossing?

I hardly ever see cards with heat embossing anymore! It's funny how trends change. When I first got into stamping 20 years ago, almost every card was embossed somehow! I still like the look of embossing the sentiment tho. It seems so elegant.

Have to agree.....that's the one technique that got me into stamping, also 20+ years ago!

I hadn't thought about it until your post. You are right you don't see it much anymore. I still love it.

I love heat embossing, but when the temperature is into three digits with the relative humidity not far behind, I just don't feel like firing up the heat gun. KWIM?

I still love to emboss, but not like I used to. It is also what got me into stamping. I had silver embossing powder & a thank you stamp. I held it over my toaster! It even amazed me like that-lol. I have been embossing more now that I'm using my Tombo markers more than my copics. JIL

I heat emboss a lot. Embossing resist is one of my favorite techniques.

The first heat embossing I did, probably 15 years ago, was done over the element on my electric stove. LOL! It's no wonder that my attempt at making Christmas cards that year did NOT turn into a hobby (I was too busy with my career then anyway). It was another 10 years before I got into stamping for real.

I do it to, and I love it!!! Often to the sentiments but just as often a swirl in a corner och some texturestamps to cards get embossed. I like the dept it gives the card also.

While I admit that I did a whole lot less of it for a while, I now seem to be doing it a lot more. I agree that an embossed sentiment is a striking feature. Also, some of my favorite techniques require heat embossing. I don't think it's every going away completely .

It was the WT challenge last week, I think. Or maybe the week before. Lots of embossed treats in that gallery.

Yep! Me, too..... but after 20 some years of practice, I'm still not crazy about my embossing skill level. I have used every product and every tip known to man/woman and I still sometimes end up with a few specks where I don't want them. I do love the embossed items that turn out perfectly! I think heat embossing will be around as long as stamping.... and hopefully that is a very long time.
