Default What do I use to adhere vellum...

Can anyone give me some hints on how to adhere vellum to things with it showing through? I usually adhere with monoadhesive just in the corners but you can still see it.

brads and eyelets are good if you don't mind punching through it. otherwise, fabric tape works for me (the kind that comes in a roll with backing paper that you must first remove) and crystal effects/diamond glaze. what has NOT worked well is the stuff marketed as vellum tape. expensive and ineffective.

there are other threads about this issue so others might have found other adhesives that work without showing through.

I love vellum tape. It has worked wonderfully for me. I think it's 3M brand? I'm not sure (and I'm at work, so I can't check).

Good luck finding the best product for YOU!

I've had great sucess running it thru my Xyron. I've been using vellum to journal in my scrapbook & cutting the pieces as needed. Looks so much better than my handwriting :p

Not to toot my horn but Creative Memories Photo splits are clear. Or you can use vellum tape from the craft store.

Hello,

I experienced a lot. Like with vellum tape, Pritt, fabric tape and other adhesives. But the most effective are brads and eyelets like skittlebrow already said.

Just finished a 20 Christmas card exchange with vellum attached to the inside of the cards and have found the best way for it to work is place a clean sheet of paper over the vellum tape attached to the vellum and roll it with one of those little rollers from Walmart (used to smooth out the joints between gyproc). Don't press too hard b/c you don't want to mark or crease the vellum...that is why I place a clean sheet of paper over the vellum. I then remove the sheet of paper, carefully peel off the tape from the vellum and position the vellum where it is supposed to stay. Worked very well and left an even & smooth layer of glue on the vellum that was invisible when attached to where ever it was supposed to go. This is time consuming but the only effective way I have found so far...also, this is my first experiece with vellum and vellum tape. Hope this is helpful. Happy Stampin!

Default Corner punches work

I am planning to use vellum on some of my christmas cards and was having a hard time with the adhesive showing. And then my light bulb went on. I am planning to use a corner pocket punch on my background paper so the corners just slip in. I will post a picture once I get them done.
Good luck!

Default Scrapper's Spray Adhesive

Scrapper's Spray Adhesive is the only way to go when you want vellum to be stuck down and you don't want to have to really worry about it showing and or using eyelets etc... It sprays a really fine mist and sticks quite well.

Ribbon works well too.

Or you can use adhesive to attach the vellum in spots that will be covered by a little cardstock layer.

Default I got mine from a scrapbook store.

But there are quite a few places online that sell it.

Clear photo corners also work really well for adhereing vellum, especially if you're working with large pieces. I've used this technique to put vellum over a photo.
