Default Using Velcro with Flap Cards ~

I love today's tutorial on how to make Flap Cards. I designed a graduation announcement for my daughter, and she was really excited about it. I have to make 50 of them, so I thought I'd use the Velcro as a more affordable way to go. When I put it together ~ I have a scalloped circle on the flap, I put my Velcro circle under the flap. It didn't look right, as the scallop circle sort of sticks up. I looked in the gallery, and everyone's flap cards looked closed. I'm sure some of you used Velcro as an alternative. Where did you place the Velcro to ensure the flap stayed closed? If I put it on the bottom of the scallop circle, will that work? I'm afraid it will tear though when the card is opened.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

Default Velcro

I have not had any luck using velcro on paper. It eventually starts to loosen or tears the paper. I have even tried to put crystal effects under it to help hold it down, it still lifted or ripped. I was making post it note purses. will subscribe to see was others do.

I used round velcro dots on some closures on a paper purse/box. I had a brad through the top flap and so half of the velcro was sticking to the prongs of the brad and it seamed to work. I'll try and take a picture and post it.

I have had trouble with Velcro pulling up also. I have found that if I trim the fuzzy side of the Velcro, it doesn't cling so much that it pulls away. I am interested in alternatives, as this doesn't seem like a great solution.

I stopped using velcro as it didn't hold even when using the red super tape. I also do not care for the regular brown magnets. I now use the small silver magnets because they really do hold the flap down. I use Tombow's metal glue to secure them to paper as the adhesive that comes on the magnets isn't that great. They are more expensive, but they work every time.

I just use the 2-way glue pen and let it dry before putting the flap down. Then it can be picked back up easily to open the card as it is like a sticky-note glue after it is dried (i.e., now you know where the name comes from: two-way). I just uploaded my card in my gallery using this method.
