Default Tying a horizontal bow?

How do I tie a bow, please, so it stays horizontal on the page, instead of sticking up diagonally?

Thanks,
Leslie

Recently learned a new trick from someone here who has a blog....can't remember who though.

Wrap ribbon around card. Do the first cross over and under. NOW instead of making first loop, switch the ends from left to right. THEN continue. Makes a perfect, flat, horizontal bow every time for me!!

Hallelujah. Because I was bow impaired.

Thanks I will have to try this. My bows never come out the same. It's a gamble each time.

I personally love the "Bow Maker" from "TheCardLadies".

http://www.thecardladies.com/BowMaker.htm

I am terribly, terribly bow-tying impaired. This tool from "TheCardLadies" has literally saved me. I've used it to tie all types of ribbon from 1/4" grossgrain, to the wide satin ribbon, to fancy fibers and cord. It is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Thanks for your suggestions. They really help! I got tickled because there were FIVE bow-tying videos on YouTube that showed how to tie a pull bow. Just how hard is that??!!

I always flip my card over then tie it as usual, when I flip it back the bow is right side up and flat.

The videos were wonderful! And the thought of being able to replay them is great, too. Thanks so much!

To tie a straight bow--anywhere--after you cross your ends and pull through (what I consider step 1 in tying your shoes even) pull the ends straight up and down. You should then use the bottom end to make your first loop and continue just tying a regular bow. Works tying a bow on your shoes, blouse or card!
