Question Transferring pictures to tiles

Can anyone tell me how I would transfer computer printed pictures to tiles. I think I am looking for transfer paper, but most of it is made for fabric. I want to transfer onto tiles and dominos.

I would appreciate your EXPERT advise.

THANKS!

Here is a tutorial which should help. It looks like the pictures were printed on tissue paper.

After the tiles are sprayed are they waterproof? Can they be used as coasters for cold drink glasses that sweat?

Love the look of the tiles.

It is my understanding that if you "seal" them, (with a spray for example) yes, they will be waterproof (won't smear) but they will no longer absorb the water. If you use Stazon and permanent markers you can bake them, which more or less seals them and they should still absorb any liquids...make sense?

Yes, you're looking for lazertran.

Default I didn't use any special paper just my printer and tissue

Here is the link to a tutorial on SCS! It is really nice

Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Also I just created several of these and do not intend to use them as coasters but little display/pictures.

Awesome, I'd missed that! Way cheaper and way easier than the Lazertran!

Default Problems with tissue paper printing

Has anyone had trouble printing on tissue paper? My printer just jams up. I have an inkjet printer. If I printed on vellum would it work for the tiles, or is that too thick of a paper? Thanks for the help!

Default Vellum

I have tried using the vellum b/c I have been scared to try the tissue paper with a new printer. My pictures/tiles have not turned out as nice, but it could be the type of tile I am using. I am going to see if there is a difference.

Default You have to tape your tissue paper down

You have got to tape the tissue down to regular copy/printer paper. Just adjust your margins to allow for the tape. My printer is an inkjet and no trouble - good luck!

This was in our last SCS Newsletter. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to.

Feedback From Past Tutorials

swbw2000 has a tip for photo tile coaster:
"I see you have photo tiles, another great way to do this technique it to apply Mod Podge, then use a laser photo copy or laser printer on regular paper, place face down in wet glue. Allow to dry for 48 hours, if you can, and then place under warm water to wet, use your finger and in a circular motion rub off the paper, this takes a bit of time and playing , then stamp and spray. You can also do this without the glue and use Goo Gone, I think."
