I saw this box over on Hobby Paleis and want to make it for my daughter's teachers. I just adore what she's done with her boxes. Does anyone know if there is a tutorial or pattern for it? I don't mind if I have to pay, I just can't figure out how to find it online, I've tried with no success.
I think I've seen it on SCS somewhere, it looks like a matchbox tutorial I've seen. If my brain unfogs, I'll hunt it down...but maybe someone else will find it first. It has to do with the way you stack a dozen matchboxes, cover the whole stack with paper, and then you get drawers on all 4 sides. (if that makes sense)

Only thing I can think of is to use one of the two boxes that I found in the resources and then base everything else around that. From the look of the boxes on that site the top and bottom are of either really thick card or thin mdf.
I've seen this exact same box somewhere before only decorated differently. I know there was a tutorial, so it does exist. I'll look for it and hopefully I'll be able to find it for you.

That's what it looks like to me too, and I can't remember much about it either. I'm going to say, though, that the version I saw is for six drawers on each side because it was an advent calendar.
So, for the OP, I would search for matchbox advent calendar...
Renate was so kind to post a reply to my comment and got me started on a 2 hour search for how to make these (meanwhile my 3 year old was running rampant around the house, gotta love paper addictions lol). So, between the tutorials here and on another forum and what I have found online; I have a better understanding of how it all works.
Skynacho ~ things really started picking up for me when I typed in your suggestion of the matchbox advent calendar, I got to see how they are made. Thankee darlin'.
I can't wait to get started and get the ideas of decorating going. I'll be sure to post some pictures when I am done.
Oriental Trading sells paper drawer boxes which could be used for the drawers, which are stacked and glued together, then a piece of chipboard for the top and bottom.
OMG! thanks for opening a world of new ideas to me, this really got my creative juices flowing! been awake since 5.15 and it has been worth it now! thank you!!
I'm going to make one of those advent calendars. So cute and clever. I'll have to give it to someone with little kids, though, because mine have grown beyond that stage.
It looks like the Sizzix matchbox die. You would put the boxes together as a matchbox and then fasten them to make them as high as you like them...say you want them 4 high....attach four matchbows together and then cover the stack with whatever decorative paper you want on them. You would attach four stacks to a bottom and then attach the top...only using adhesive on the top and bottom to keep the four stacks together. Unless. you put a piece of paper on the back opening on the matchboxes....being careful not to get adhesive on the back of the drawers with the paper covering....make sense?
