Default Stenciling on wall with gamasol

I have a question. I have this wonderful stencil for a multi-layered tree for my wall. I've not done anything with it because I'm not comfortable with paints.

What do you think about inking the design on the wall, using pens and gamasol? Has anyone ever tried anything like this? Remember, we're talking about wallboard with 2 to 3 coats of paint on it.

I'd be really interested in your opinions.

Thanks,
Lori

If it were me I'd try paints..I know you said you're not comfortable with them but try using smaller artist's brushes with acrylic paint. Pens bleed through most paints so you might not be able to cover any mistakes. What I've done before is get paint mixed to match the wall so you can touch up as you go...or paint the whole wall first so you have a nice surface to work on. Good luck!

Lori....I know that Gamsol is flammable, so I wouldn't use it on my walls (just my opinion).

I also thought Gamsol was for blending with Prisma pencils. Can it also be used for markers and if so what kind?

It took me some practice too with paints but I used stencil brushes and got the job done. I painted the walls with a "brick wall" half way up and then added flowers and birds etc. Now I have a "walled garden" in my bedroom. And quietly painting away was great therapy. I have even done a Mickey and Minnie on the wall in the guest room near our Disney pictures. I love stenciling because I'm not very "artsy" and really can't draw a straight line.

The tree stencil you are using, is it a Dressler stencil? I love her stencils and have been trying to figure out how to work the weeping willow into my garden.
