I see that in the new SU catty there are a few barn stars by the new designer paper. Does anyone have a template for these types of stars.....it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, Carissa
They are super simple to do; I made some last year as embellishments for our friends' gifts. Just accordion-fold a square of paper (one inch and half an inch are two dimensions I've used for a 6 inch square), staple at the 3" mark to keep the centre of the star together, cut off the two back corners of the long, skinny rectangle to make the ends of your star pointy, then fold the two sides together to make a circular star. You can also trim little squares, etc out of the front edges of your star to make it look more lacy.
I did a search for 'ornament' in the gallery and found some star ornaments with instructions in them or links to blogs with photo tutorials or something like that.
I, too, would love to have the directions for this. I already have a customer who is 'ga-ga' over this and wants us to make these at her stamping class.
If anyone has this, please-oh-please send me directions and I will be eternally grateful!
There was a thread on it- page 171 has paper stars.... is this what you mean by Barn Stars?
Here's the link to the thread in case these are what you had in mind! A few posts down, Belinda linked 3 different tutorials... took me a few times, but eventually i got it!
Good Luck!
This one gives measurements and stresses using 8 1/2 by 10 size to start. I think it's clearer.
Don't thank me, someone else linked it earlier this week -I just can't find the thread right now!!:(
Seriously?! I could just kiss ya'all for sharing these great instructional links!
I was wailing a little internally that it would take me forever to figure out HOW to make these, and I 'bout fell off my chair when I saw how easy they are!
THANKS, YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info, but I can't seem to open up the link you put on there. Am I doing something wrong?? And, yes, the barn stars that I was referring to are the ones on page 171 of the new catalog. Thanks for all your help!
I couldn't open the link above either. Just do a search on the web for making 5 point stars. There are a few out there... [Enchanted Learning has info, for instance]. It is something we learned to do in school. The fold is simple and easy to do. In the meantime, I'll try to post a link to a site for instructions.
Hope this helps you out!
Janice

I'm sure there isn't an exact pattern. The stars are metal. They sell them at my LSS. The designer just measured the size of her stars and attached the paper.
I was wondering how this was done. I wanted to use it as a tree topper for Christmas and make ornaments for the tree from OnBoard chipboard and the new papers/ribbon. Hope someone can come up with directions for the star.
Martha Stewart's (Michaael's) new line has the stars from paper - I haven't bought any to see how they were done.
Don't you just love those stars on the bottom corner of page 171 of the new catalog??!! I do.!!! I looked, hoping that maybe there would be some kind of instructions or hints on how to make them but .. none! Does anyone know how to make them.... and would you share?? Pretty please???
Thank you all so much!!!! I can't get over how simple they are to do. The idea to make Christmas tree ornaments with them was perfect for my homes' decor. I'm so excited!!! Thank you all again for posting this info for all of us!

subscribing to this thread. I love these stars and can't wait to make some for my tree this year.

It's someone who buys stamps they didn't normally like at first, only to see it in Split Coast Stampers gallery in a different perspective.
I'm really struggling with all of these! I like the scraplovers site since it doesn't waste much paper, but I can't get the ends to come together smoothly. All the others seem to have too much paper to waste. I think I'm "star" challenged!!
Are you sure about that?? I just don't think they are. I've had a few customers express interest in making them, and I know they are under the impression that they are simply made of paper.
