Default STAPLES AND SHARPIES?

Do most of you color the staples before or after you staple? The vote amongst my avid stamping friends is after - if you do it before you often get part of it "flaked" off when you actually staple with it. But for me, it scares me to death to color after since that stample is often the final touch on a card. My hands just aren't that steady!

I would think after as well. I have staples that are already colored though. I've never tried coloring them myself..

you can also take a post it note and lay it over the rest of the card to use to block off the rest of the card.

I have taken a small section of Staples and colored them before placing them in the stapler.

I find that this works much better for me than doing any other way... I haven't had a problem with the shapies flaking off.

I also have purchsed some of the colored staples that fit a standard size stapler and those work great too.

Thank you so much for everybody's help. Amazingly my entire question revolved around whether it was worth going back to Big Lots to get a huge supply of Sharpies. But they were Fine point instead of Ultra Fine. I think if I can color before I staple, the Fine point will be fine. Thanks everybody!

You can also color them with StazOn ink if you have that. I've done it with them before I stapled and never had trouble with flaking.

I color them after I put them on a card and just use a piece of cardboard or something to cover the card as I'm coloring the staple.

What a great idea! I am too cheap to buy colored staples since I don't use them very often but I have about 20 colors Sharpies already! Oh I have to try this for the DD Anniversary challenge.

I color before- but I actually finally just bought some colored staples. They were like $3 for 5 different colors- and they SHINE so much better than sharpie colored ones, which are colored, but dull to me.

If i need TONS of them, I'll sharpie them- but for just a quick accent- I like the making memories ones I got from TAC
