last night I saw a beautiful card that when opened it rested against a pearl so it sort of "propped up" or "stood up" like a standing card..thought I had it in my faves and I don't. i really wanted to make this for my Great Aunts 96th birthday sat. anyone have any idea what I'm talking about with my poor describing skill lol
I emailed the lady who made the card to see if she would share the directions.
Thank you for asking the creator. I'd love to know as well if she's willing to share the info. Her card is beautiful. It always fun to learn a new fold.

Not sure if ths is how the original artist did it, but I used a 12" x 5.5" sheet of cardstock. Scored it at 4.25" from each end and at 6". Mountain folded the score lines on the ends and valley folded the center score line. Adhered the card front to the folded inner flap, leaving the back of the folded flap free. Determined how far I wanted the card to prop open and attached the embellishments in the center of the card. Fall Prop up Card by craftjunkiesc at Splitcoaststampers.

your card is beautiful and exactly what I wanted to make for my Aunt..thank you so much for explaining how you made your version which btw is just as awesome as the original..you're wonderful
1. Cut CS 8.5x5.5". Score in half to make a standard card.
2. Place the card on your table with the fold at top. Score the front panel horizontally at 2 1/8". Use your bone folder to crease the front panel creating a mountain fold.
3. Create a card front with the largest panel measuring 4.25x5.5. Adhere the card front to the card using adhesive on the lower panel only
4 Decorate the inside of the card placing an embellishment in the center of the back panel, it can be closer to the fold or further away but keep in mind, this will affect the angle of the card front so experiment with placement to get the look you want. This embellishment should be held on with strong adhesive, I wouldn't recommend a glue dot or the adhesive on preglued bellies. A brad or sewn on button would be strongest. The area below this embellishment will be seen when the card is propped up so you might want to leave space for writing above this, especially if your handwriting is like mine:shock:. It would be a great place for an innie (inside of the card sentiment).
5. to prop up, lift the front panel and tuck under/lean against the embellishment.

This was so much fun to make but I have a few pointers...
1. For the front base, use card stock and double side is nice for display. Paper kinda' flops a little but you can add a backing to stiffen it up.
2. Really any embellishment will work but not when you first make it. You have to fiddle with it to get the bend right so it will go all the way down to the backside to sit right. Then it looks crooked in a pic but in real life it is not.
3. When you have finish with coloring intensely difficult designs for 14 cards, do not squeeze your ink refill too hard or you will squirt it all over your work surface and ruin 3 of them and then begin screaming really ugly cuss words while flailing about and literally tear up.
Hi... I have made these cards by simply folding my card base in half like I am going to make a standard card ( any size ) Then I fold the front of the card in half again ( mountain fold.. or folded to the inside) Then I cut another front which I decorate as I like.. then glue this to only the bottom folded part of my card base.. so that when it placed behind the pearl, or whatever you place to hold it up, it forms an Easel card...
Hope these directions are not too confusing..
God bless

I love 53QueenBee's hints! (heartbreaking as it must have been). And her card is wonderful and will be my inspiration for this year's Thanksgiving cards. TFS
