Default Stamping on wood?

Anyone know the best way to stamp on unfinished/unsealed wood objects? Kind of like the thingies they sell at Michel's. Best inks? or techniques? Or, if you stamped your image on cs what would be the easiest way to mount that on the wood object? Thanks ever so for any ideas!

I haven't really done so myself but I would imagine as far as ink goes I would try Stazon since it is meant for non-porous surfaces. If you wanted to stamp on cardstock and then adhere I would imagine using some sort of modge podge would help.

Unfinished wood is porous so although Stazon would work absolutely fine it's not necessary as it would be with a slick surface. Versacraft (which used to be called Fabrico until quite recently) would be a good choice of ink. You can get it in cute little cubes as well as full size pads so it can be quite economical, even if you're looking to get a range of colours.

Mod Podge would be my choice if I decided to stamp on card/paper and adhere to my wooden surface later. It comes in a range of finishes so you can pick whatever suits your project (matt, gloss, sparkle, outdoor).

Hope you're stamping something fun!

I recently stamped on small wood game pieces with Stampin' Up! craft ink. It worked well.

Thanks, all!! I tried various suggestions, and the best image was stamping directly on the wood piece using versacolor, or actually any pigment ink. (Stampin'Up's craft ink is pigment ink, according to my demonstrator.) And it was great! It didn't "bleed" into the grain of the wood. Actually, the dye inks and Stazon did, a little. I must have been absent the day they taught decoupage in school, cause I don't have a clue. Bet I'm the only person in civilization who doesn't know how. And too old now to learn!

Yup, that's true.

Don't feel bad about the decoupage. I've never done it either though I always intended to!

if you stamp on CS and then use modgepodge to adhere it to the wood, or even if you stamp on the wood and then use modgepodge over it to seal it, does the ink smear?? I've always wondered this.... any ideas?

Thanks!!

I had posted a question about SU wood sheets. I have used SU ink and chalked Lovely as a Tree. I am not always satisfied with the outcome as the ink sometimes bleeds-wood sheets too costly to waste!
Anyone have any suggestions--I love these wood sheets and want them for my CHRISTmas cards.
Thanks
