Has anyone who has made the candles with the tissue paper actually burned the candle and if so is it ok?
I didnt actually burn the candle, but I left the heat gun in one area too long and there is a hole in the candle. I ended up throwing it away because I couldnt seem to fix it where it didnt look horrible!
I think if the candle has a larger diameter (3" or more), it should be fine. At our stamp class, we found that holding the heat gun farther away from the candle (than you would for embossing) worked best when making the candles.
I just tried it on a votive and it was fine. I had it in a glass cup and actually waited for it to burn (about an hour) and the flame never got near the paper, the wax just kind of formed all around it. With the bigger candles, i tell people to burn it long enough to form a large hole and then put a tea lite in it to save the rest of the candle..but hey if they burn it all the way, they will need to buy another one from you right?
I need to keep my helpful mouth shut lol
Yes. I mostly use the short fat Dollar Store candles and have had not problem at all. I thought when the candle burned down to the paper it might go up in flames, but it doesn't. It just burns down like the rest of the candle. Just use the same precaution as any other candle.
Glad i found this thread...teaching a class on this next week.
Has anyone tested the tealights? I saw a few blogs where someone had put the stamped image on the top of a tealight....it looks lovely...but worried that the tissue would be right under the flame. Was going to test it tonight but discovered i don't have a proper tea light....hope someone can help!
