Default Spiral Notebooks

I am trying to figure out how to cover SU sprial notebooks with DP but I don't know how big to cut the paper and use the spiral punch. I have been searching for a tutorial but can't seem to find one. I know that there has to be some directions out there somewhere. Wanting to make these for Christmas gifts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'll be interested in watching this thread for answers to covering with D.P. too.

I have decorated a spiral notebook with painting and stamping before this. Details here.

Cut your DS paper the same size as the album cover. Here's a link to instructions regarding who to use the spiral punch to line things up

Check this out...

It's an easy technique for covering a spiral bound notepad or notebook.

Default Covering SU Notebooks with DP

I've covered a couple of them. I too used an oversized piece of scrap paper at first to do a test placement. You will need to do a small snip in the DSP for the holes to fit right around the wire binding. When you add adhesive it will pretty much disappear.

Rather than cutting the DSP to size I cut it over sized and wrapped the edges over to the inside of the cover. I used adhesive on the front of the cover first. Let it dry then put adhesive on the inside of the cover as far as the DSP will reach. Before wrapping the paper decide if you want the top & bottom edges to overlap the side or the side to overlap the top and bottom. To cover the middle I cut a solid color piece of card stock and adhered it to the middle. This creates a nice finish on the inside of the cover.

A few weeks ago I covered a bunch of the smaller spiral notebooks and it went a lot better than I thought. I tried the Xyron at first, but then had the problem of cutting out the sticky holes. So, then I sprayed the covers with spray glue and put the paper on (be careful to get it straight the first time) and then just used my hole punch to punch out the holes for the spiral. The spirals came off easier than what I thought, and I used a few clothes pins to hold the notebook together so putting it back together went well.
Have fun, they turn out so adorable you will want to do a bunch.

I forgot, like mlm I had the paper slightly larger than the cover and just trimmed the edges when I was done.

My own preference is the small size hole on my CropaDile

She stated at the bottom of the supply list that she used a 1/8 circle punch.
